well i decided to build my first ever pc and thought hey it would be great to see if i can use an old xbox case, so as i had a few sitting spare i gutted out a crystal case and started from there, ( had a go at polishing the case a bit to see if i could make it a little less opaque.. its more see though now but the finish isnt great so not sure about that yet ) im sure this has been done loads of time but though i would put my efforts up here..!!
Nothing too fancy just a biostar nm701 motherboard with a 1.8ghz duel processor, 16gb ram and a small 250gb hard drive, just waiting to finish it off now as im waiting for the small psu to be delivered.
i modded the original eject button and power button so these now power on the pc and reset it too.. :) bit of a learning curve as ive never done anything like this before, good fun though, and hopefully when im finished i will have a nice little funky pc i can use hooked up to a 23 inch lcd monitor :)

Looks great I would have kept the metal shielding underneath though.
also polishing the top of the case , use 1500 grit wet & dry use it wet put it in a sink or in the bath and sand in the same direction.
not in swirls and not all over the place just take your time.
    then polish with metal polish

I'm not a fan of cutting up game hardware... Black jewel looks nice on the crystal case though.

I agree it is a complete waste , should have just bought a PC media case , and some are actuall smaller than
    the xbox shell.

Interesting... you gonna stick an optical drive in there? Some LEDs too maybe?

well im gonna stick a new ssd hard drive and blue leds. yes i will probably have another go at the top of the case too.. will leave the front controller ports in as i think they look good just as dummy ones. not going to bother with an optical drive as i havent used one in a few years really.. will attach one just to get the os onto it..
yes im sure some people would hate to chop up an xbox but there are millions out there and i think its way better than the normal boring pc cases..

might stick the metal base back in will see what it looks like when its finished, will post a vid once its up and running..

Converting a couple of those front controller ports to USB would be cool.

You might consider using some type of glue instead of the screws if you do not want to drill into the case to install the USB connectors.

have thought about doing this myself a few times, although with some more beefy hardware, wouldnt cut up a working xbox though i'd use a dead / faulty one.
