Yes, it is a very good game but the Japanese version is quite rare and not to mention expensive :banghead:
Very nice, but I too thought you would have had more :icon_bigg. What's Kabuki Warriors? Mystical Fighters? I have the Japanese release of that (Maou Renjishi?) and agree that it's a great game, although most other beat em up fans I know think it's crap ;-)
Yes, that's the one. It does look pretty poor but I do like the way it plays. Most people I know think it's pretty poor as well. I guess it's one of those cult titles. Yakumo
Awesome collection. I did have many of those games myself, but that was a few years ago now. Japanese Megadrive and AES boxes are my all time favourite game packaging. Looking at your pictures bring back some really good memories. Nice one.
It was the last Sunsoft title I got but it was only 4,000 Yen when I picked it up. Re : Runark and Kubuki Warriors, why? I remember getting them both in CEX back in the day (both are mint) and I always thought that it was a waste of a fiver (each).
A lot of people think those two games are crap. They're probably best classed as cult classics. I'm sure many will think the mahjong games you enjoy are complete toss but then again to others they're fantastic. It all depends upon your taste I guess. One man's crap is anthers treasure so to speak. Yakumo
I found Tatsujin recently at a local Hard-Off for 1000yen. First thing I thought of was our local PC Engine collector on these forums. I thought it was a bit steep, but I wanted it anyway. When to pick it up last week (even though I don't have a Mega Drive and my Genesis is back in Canada) and it was already gone. It went fast. Meanwhile, other goodies like Bare Knuckle II, Virtual Boy and a CIB Final Fantasy edition Wonderswan have been there for a month. Well, the Wonderswan was still there. It's now collecting dust in my closet.
Question for you guys in Japan (Yakumo, Tetsujin and anyone else); there's a boxed Mega Drive in very nice condition the Hard-Off 5 mins down the road from my for 4,000yen. I cracked it open and it's complete and looks to be in very nice condition. I've kind of been holding off on getting a Japanese Mega Drive in hopes of picking up a Wondermega somewhere down the road, but I'm a sucker for pretty boxes (I'm very proud of my boxed PCE Duo I picked up for 五千円. I won't be picking it up for another month, since I've spent all of my gaming money this month, so it might not even be available. Is the boxed MD for 4000yen worth it? It would mean me also having to get a Mega-CD down the road and most likely forgoing the Wondermega (or CDX/Multi-Mega/whatever it's called in Japan). I've already got a North American Genesis (model 1) and Sega CD (model 2). I hope my posts aren't taken as thread hi-jacking. This just seems like a logical place to ask this stuff.
Well where in Japan are you btw? 4000 yen isn't bad, basically if you think it's a good buy then buy it, I mean it's about 30 quid or $40usd or $60AUS, etc so if it feels a bargain then it probably is. When I go to hard off I do tend to buy things if I feel it's cheap.
Hmm, Mega Drives range in price quite a bit. 4000 yen for a lovely mint system is pretty good going, especially if it's the first original Japan only Mega Drive and not the later one sold through Asia. Asia NTSC Mega Drive Japanese NTSC Mega Drive Yakumo
Glad to know that you finally got that multi bootleg. I still got more if you're still interested. :icon_bigg
There is also a Asia PAL-B Mega Drive (Indonesia, Malaysia,Singapore,Saudi Arabia,Thailand) correct me if i am wrong.
I'm in the Tokyo area, in Saitama suburbia. I'm kind of hoping that others who've seen these things in Japan (NOT in Akihabara, but in "real" Japan) might have an idea if it can be found much cheaper. For example, a CIB Neo Geo CD is running at 2500yen (2650/tax, I believe), but is probably 10,000yen in Akihabara boxed. Yakumo, I don't remember which version of the MD it is. I might check tomorrow if I get a chance, as I'm not doing anything for Golden Week (other than my wife! :icon_bigg..... sorry, bad joke). I "think" it had a handle like the original one has, but I really don't remember. I just remember opening the box up and being happy that it had all the instructions and hook-ups (mono A/V, just like the Neo Geo AES has in Japan) and looked to be in good condition.
Yes, that's right. The box is the same as the NTSC Asia Mega Drive but with a whopping big PAL gold and Silver sticker on it from what I remember.
Well, after about three days on the shelf someone's already bought that boxed Mega Drive. Oh well, I managed to pick up a copy of Sonic CD today for 105yen. Not that I can play it on an actual Mega CD yet (an emulator just isn't the same!), but at least it's there.
I think you mean you are in the Saitama prefecture somewhere near Tokyo... it's a bit like saying I am in London in the Woking suburbua... So where in Saitama are you? I did live there for quite a while. The thing about hard off is a lot of stuff is in the junk section and although a lot of it is fine, you might find odd problems, I bought a Saturn which works fine except the video connector is intermitant (although a quick solder and it was fine). Neo Geo CD is a pig of a system and I generally ignore it as I've seen too many dead or intermitant ones so make sure it says something like tested and games work... generally they won't let you test consoles in that section. Pricing for hard off is all over the place, you might find one shop with a loose Neo Geo CD for Y6000 and another having a boxed one for Y2000, ditto with a lot of consoles, just have an idea in your mind what a good price is and if you want it then pick it up. Yes that's the thing is that other people might buy things...
Isn't that what I said? 川口, just next to Tokyo. True. It took my three Super Famicoms to find one that worked without having to have the cartridge inserted *perfectly*. Still, most of the stuff I've picked up is fine. It depends on the staff, really. They did let me test mine at one of the Hard-Offs near me. At another location, they actually have a testing station! I've definitely noticed that. I've seen Super Famicoms anywhere from 300yen (clean looking and working) to yellowed ones CIB for 6000yen. Unfortunately, I don't come across many Mega Drives (or PC Engines, for that matter).
Try have a look at http://gametraders.com.au/ or http://cashconverters.com.au/ or if you have a friend in Australia or New Zealand try ask them to check these shops as I saw a few Japan MD games in these shops.
