I think my children are trying to tell me something. When I came down for breakfast this morning, I discovered my youngest son flicking through some Wii information and making "OOoo" and "Aaaah!" noises. It was like a audible billboard! My eldest daughter was more subtle, she just left a couple of magazines open at pictures of the same laptop......... Hmmmm? Am I meant to take this bait?
lol, I did the same thing earlier this year. "I'd really like it if I had that 24 inch tall Balrog figure....but I don't have enough money............*wink wink*" Its this thing, btw: 1.83 feet tall with a with almost a 3.5 feet wingspan! It also lights up, makes noises, and has a flaming sword and whip! (Not that I like the electronicy parts! ) It'll look so cool in my room.
"Hey, dad, it would be awesome if I could get this 120 gig hard drive for my laptop... Christmas is coming up and everything..." "Why would you want a new hard drive? You just bought your computer..." I just ordered the damn thing myself today.
"Hey mom, whats up" "I m fine. The new nintendo came out, did you buy it?" "No, i have lots to do for my final year, no time to play, and I haven't got any money either" "Well that's ok, I ll give you the money" "No thanks, I have to study" "Doesn't matter, just buy it and leave it hooked up on your desk" "....um ok" Ever since I left home my parents have been very keen on buying me video-games and consoles. They know franchises such as Zelda and Mario, and will probably know that's something wrong with me if I don't buy a nintendo console when it comes out. They also support the purchase of rare and development hardware. To this day, I haven't allowed them to pay for any of the video games I own (I paid for the Wii myself finaly) however. Spening my parents' money feels like spending my own. I don't feel comfortable with that.
I think I'm gonna hint that I want my Mom and Dad to help pay for the rest of the GCN version of Zelda TP. I'm trying to save up for a DS lite right now. If I got at least $100 this Christmas in money, I'll be all set. I've already got about $110 already, I just want the Balrog thingy too.
two years ago, I subtly placed a christmas card for my parents with the inscription : A Happy Chrsitmas two you. hinting for a ps2. This year, i plan to be less subtle, and create a xmas wishlist dvd, aptly named eList06......In actuallity, for some odd reason, my parents are keen on hunting down a wii for me, this is odd as in past years, they wish'd i'd not even associate myself with games at all...... .....Might have to buy my mother big brain academy this year though, as she's pretty well hooked on the original brain age....Oh well, i guess it would go good along with the sienfeld series 7 dvd Ryan
Isn't that when you do the Christmas story on them... put everything else under the tree but those and hide those presents till after they open all the others and have breakfast and than a while later say didn't you miss a couple..
Shoot, tell me about it. I'm lucky if I get 5 or 6 games. I got 3 GCN titles (on sale for $14.99 each and 3 $29.99 GBA games.) I'm hinting I want them to get me Zelda TP as well, though, so I could have more money for a DS. Just one of my friend's gifts is worth more than everything I already am getting put together and if I do say so myself, I deserve it more than he does. But still, I've had many Christmases like this one before and I'm content with what I got. I'd probably actually feel a little guilty if my parents got me a ton of expensive stuff. The only time (well, recently) I got a Game system for Christmas was when I got my PS2 from my Grandma. This was Christmas 2002, btw. I begged and pleaded for it for months. I FINALLY got her to get me one and to THIS DAY she asks me if I sold it to Game Boy (Gamestop), if I still play it, and rants and raves about how that was the most money she ever spent on any of her Grandkids and for me not to tell the other ones what I got. You can well imagine me being apprehensive a bit about expensive stuff, now. Someone at College is trying to get me to replace them at Pizza Hut, and I may take them up on that offer, because a lack of money is bad for a gamer. P.S. - Yes, I have looked for jobs in the past, but with no sucess.
I wanted a Wii, but I'll have to settle on getting a 60a2000 (look it up) on Friday. I have a wonderful wife...
lol I told my mom to get me a PSP and MegaMan powered up. Well I wanted one with a hackable firmware so I got it myself. I got a bad one and was going to take it back a swap it for one with a good firmware (it was used btw) and my brother was like, Oh, can I get that one for chistmas, so my mom gave me anohter 150 for a used one with hackable firmware. So now I have a 2.71 downgraded to 1.5 running emus and im happy as can be. But now my DAD WANTS ONE LOL. So my mom is giving me another 150 to get him one to lol. My other brother (10) is getting a PS2 and my sister is getting a 140 dollar video mp3 player. We also get other stuff but those are our big gifts. We are very lucky this year because my dad got a 2 dollar raise and now makes almost 21 dollars a hour with full benifits. Im not saying that people shouldnt expect alot, but I remember in the past when my family was on the poor side, and I think everyone should count their blessings.
My mom mentioned that there DVD player sucks and she wants to play a football game, and my stepdad liked to play DOA and MK with me, so I got them and my sisters an Xbox, DVD kit, DOAU, Madden 2005, Forza, Tetris/Star Wars something, Oddworld Munchs, a DVD kit and an extra logitech wireless controller. =) Time to repay the favor I thought.
A: Yep, you are right about the Wii, I wouldn't grumble in the slightest and the little fella and me would probably be set for the Christmas holidays. Even the Wii Sports looks pretty cool. B: As for the laptop. Considering she isn't too fussy and just wanted any Dell laptopn it's not TOO expensive. You have to remember that way back in the 80's my parents bought me a full Amstrad CPC system, which in todays money would be more than pay for a decent laptop! It was one of those presents your jaw hits the floor when you see and it's what sparked off a passion for computers and consoles, so perhaps if the eldest gets a laptop she'll use it to get through college and even maybe uni. It could spark off a passion for homework lol - now THAT would be worth the money. The idea of hiding the big presents until the very end is pretty neat - we usually pile everything under the tree, stand back and let the carnage begin. Children, paper, pets and toys a flyin'. I'm really impressed by the amount of supportive parents and partners who are encouraging the love of consoles & gaming. I'll never forget a comment made to me by the father of my best mate Gary. We were sat playing "Paperboy" on the Commodore 64 when he walked in and uttered the immortal words "What a waste of time. These bloody computers will come to nothing. You'll never make any money playing around with computers". Ironically he is now the director of one of Scotland's largest organic farming supermarkets and reliant upon computers. His son works as a civil servant stuck behind a PC all day and I...well, I spend far too much money on the damned things so someone, somewhere is making a bundle out of me!
