Just Metal Gear. I've never played a single Kojima game outside the MG series, and I'm afraid if I do I'll get hooked and sink thousands more into my obsessive collecting heh.

Just added some more posters. I have a banner on the way that'll be going above me TV.

Care to share any details of good places to get these sorts of items?

It really depends on the item. Yahoo Japan is by far the best however, but alot of items I've also purchased from general collectors. Example, my rarest of posters came from someone I met that's a general poster collector and recently I was even able to purchase prototype black and white samples of Metal Gear posters from him.

If there's anything specific you're looking for drop me a note on what it is and I'll see if I know someone. Also of collectors will retain doubles of rare items to use as "Trade bait" but may on occasion sell them as well (usually what I do).

Got my new posters today, but one was missing. Guess I'll have to wait for it.

The huge white one was on display at the 2001 Winter CES in early 2001. Luckily it's remained in near mint condition all this time (I know the person who sets up Konami's booths at the CES shows). I took a few pics to show it's size, the frames above it at 24"x36" and I'm not going to dig up my tape measure but it's about 4'x5'

The MGS2 one was a retail promo. Very cool indeed.

I'm too tired to unravel the rest, but one's from E3 (MGS4), one's a prototype black and white sample (MGS3, still waiting for the other one), one is an MGS:Mobile Verizon poster and the other I think it a Twin Snakes retail display.

As my downstairs "MG Museum" is loaded, I'll be setting these up in one of my stairwells. Sizes are odd so I'll have to custom frame and it may take a while.

Never knew they sold Amstrad Mega PC pads separately....

That is an incredible collection you have there. And yes, it's probably a good thing you've never played Snatcher or Policenauts. You'd need a bigger place to live!

Hey thanks for the link - that's a cool system it's too bad they never branded the system though.

The holy grail I've been chasing has finally been obtained. The $599.99 BIN was a bit steep, but these pop up maybe once a year. MAYBE.

The MGS corporate wine bottle only served at MGS launch parties in 1998. Unserved bottles were given to staff members to take home, although not many exist.

As it was kept at room temp I don't think it's drinkable, but I'm sure it's more valuable to keep "sealed" than to drink anyways heh.

ok you're right, but I'm so tapped out right now I'm trying to convince myself there isn't

I definately won't be on ebay or Yahoo Japan for a while after this purchase.

"$600 a bit steep" no shit. That said how much more would you have paid? It is an amazing addition to what is already an amazing collection. Where you going to put it? I think the rarity + the value must equate to some special display unit (crown jewels style). It surely cant go anywhere near the duck!

    @ the duck comment.

The last one I saw sell went for $450 (last year), so $600 is definately close to the max I would have paid for. It's still unopened and in it's original box helps as well (as was the last one that sold) but the chances of seeing another is very slim. It'll happen, but not for a long time. I only know 3 other people that own this (2 in Spain, 1 in Japan).

The seller used to have a massive MG collection, so it's usually only when a person like this breaks up their collection does an item of this rarity appear for sale.

I definately will do something special to display this. I have some ideas in mind but I'll wait until it arrives until I go crazy. Maybe a glass case by itself and I'll have it resting somehow (standing/propped up) on top of a velvet pillow. Actually you hit the nail on the head when you said crown jewel treatment heh.

Heh, well if properly stored I think a wine can last many years, however proper conditions must be met and I doubt ANY of those have been met on this bottle. The wine is most likely vinegar now if the dry cork helped facilitate air getting into the bottle.

ANYWAYS, I got the bottle. It has a few imperfections, but I but a mint condition one may not exist unless it's in the home (or wine cellar) of a Konami staff member. I'll probably get a display case for it to be displayed on it's own, but for now I've decided to keep it where it's the most safe. Funny thing is, it's not the most valuable item on the shelf.

Either way, I'd love to see Kojima's collection. He has many rare items in his office and I bet he has alot of signed items too :katamari:

If anyone knows Japanese - can they tell me what that sticker at the top says?

BTW - big thanks to all ASSEMbler members that have helped the collection out. Some of the items you see have been from members of this board.

    果実酒 = Kajitsushu
Fruit wine (brandy I guess? I couldn't find the proper English translation).

Very nice. MGS is definitely one of the most stylish franchises to collect, if not the best-looking one.

    Thanks for the translation.

Yoji Shinkawa definately made MG the most stylish franchise around.
