So...i came home wondering why the standby LED of my Wii wasn't lighted up...checked the power plug and everything, but it's all fine. I didn't to anything to it, the last thing was a XBox 360 Controller lying on the top of the Wii, nothing more. Problem is, i think the warranty just expired (release on 8th december 2006?) and sending it to nintendo wouldn't be a good idea since i installed a lot homebrew and "others" ... though no hardware mod. What to do?
People have sent there Wii's in thats been softmodded and got replaced just fine but Im thinking its the PSU,do you have a mate you could borrow one from.If anything just send in your Wii to get it fixed.
man first xbox 360 now Wii are there any problems with the PS3 known? I think i should just play with my SNES lol
Maybe US models do but Japanese ones don't. I have a day of release Wii that was connected to Wii24hr for almost two years continuously without a single problem. The only reason I turned it of was because I've recently installed the homebrew channel. Yakumo
I got mine Christmas 2007 and have had Wii Connect 24 on ever since and it's okay, but I have seen a friends launch one stop working from it and it does heat up.
that worked! i just connected the Wii this morning again and the standby LED was lighted up again, strange. no heat problem though, when the light went out yesterday the Wii was cold, so was the PSU and WiiConnect24 was off...
Thought so. The thermal fuse cut on (which can happen when the console overheats or there is a power line spike). Leaving it to reset should always be the first step. Congrats
Really? I have a Wii that I got on launch, and I always leave it plugged in and even leave it running for days straight. I haven't had any problems yet.
PS3, following Sony tradition, has optic lens problems. A friend of mine said he already has about ten of them at the store, waiting to get repaired. All need new lens (that cost between $100 / $150).
It only affected launch units running WiiConnect24. When the console goes into WiiConnect24 mode and the fans shut off, early units could suffer overheating issues. If your Wii is in a cool, well-ventilated place you're probably fine - the obvious alternative is to disable the WiiConnect24 functionality.
On a funny side note, Drew, after you unhooked your Wii last night and left i tried playing my 360 only to see ANOTHER FXCKING RED RING!!!!!!! Yeah, this is only the 6th time this has happened.:icon_bigg
