N64 - RGB MOD - NO +5v - No Signal - Nothing.

    You're right, if he's using a PVM/BVM or a professional monitor of some sort then Luma might not work but it doesn't look like a professional monitor. About the sync stripper, i heard the LM1881 doesnt work or doesn't work well with the N64. I think APE said this in another thread but don't quote me on it.

    He keeps calling it a tv but it's a monitor. It's an LCD monitor though so not in not too sure about the sync. It's a Samsung SyncMaster 940mw.

    I suppose I could always attempt this Luma mod by lifting the pin so that it's reverseable.

    Realisticly, I only need this to work on my Monitor/TV, because once I confirm that it works, I want to mod it further to then convert the scart cable to Component output. (http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showth...g-the-BA7230LS&p=601436&viewfull=1#post601436)

    tested luma mod with no success.

    Do I need to reverse the Luma mod? Or is it harmless that I keep it?

    Why do you have a 220 Ohm resistor in the scart plug between pin 20(sync) and GND? My TV has trouble syncing even with a 75 Ohm resistor so I had to take it out.

    I was simply going based on the image I found.

    Well, I removed the 220 Ohm resistor, but still, no detectable source on my Monitor/TV

    Just received my LM1881 Sync Stripper in the mail last night, going to play with this tonight and see what I can come up with.

    I've built my stripper, but, where does it go?

    Tried this, but no go. My TV/Monitor still will not detect a EXT input (RGB):

    I connected the +5v, ground, Composite in, and c-sync out (Which I soldered to where the Composite wire used to be)

    Is this correct?

    My issue is a little weird. I have a NUS-CPU-03 board, but when I test the +5v on the multi-out I get +1.3v any ideas?

    right side of C109 has continuity to the +5v pin on the multi out and left Side of C88 is Ground

    Both spots give me ~ +1.2v

    Stupid question, but is your N64 on when you are testing? Sounds like its only reading standby power.

    It appears you have continuity between 5V and GND if I understand your post correctly - a short? If this is the case, it would likely explain why you are receiving a voltage output close to ~1V.

    LDOs/ linear voltage regulators (fixed/adj), in this case the 7805, have current limiting and short circuit protection features to minimize/prevent damage to the regulator itself - when they kick in, the voltage output is dropped significantly (down to ~1V) or else thermal damage would ensue instantly.

    Have you check if the 5V regulator (U13, the epoxy part heats quickly), the 12V bulk capacitor (C142), and the 5V bulk capacitor (C130) are heating up incredibly fast immediately after powering up the console?

    So it was not a short but the multi-out pins and connector was dirty, I cleaned it with alcohol and now I am getting +5v. Here is my next problem I have the RGB amp installed, and The SCART cable is wired for sync on comp. when I plug it into the the console and turn it on, pin 8 is +5v and there is a 75ohm resistor already installed to pin 16 but when I test I get +5v!?!? To my understanding I need +1.3v on pin 16 of SCART to enable RGB mode, but no picture at all!
