Besides Mother 3 what other unreleased N64 RPGs were in production? I can only recall Oriental Blue (which was only an idea, it did not even went into production for the N64 as far as I know), released for the GBA in 2003. Also, FF7 was planned but production never started, right? Anyway, is there any other RPG which went into production (at least with some screenshots) but was never released?
Yeah, I know it. I've read about FF64 on lostlevels. I'm talking about the planned FF7 project that was moved to the Playstation.
exactly, magazines suposed there would be a sequel on a nintendo console only to get the rumor mill running.
Uh.... Echo Delta doesn't look like a RPG to me... I've seen the preview video at IGN and I really think the game does not look (and probably play, as the video led me to believe) like a RPG. It's really too bad no info has surfaced about the Mother 3 early demo... AFAIK it was playable and even had some battle scenes... I hope coreycorey has the right disks... Anyway, I can't believe that Mother 3 is the only unreleased RPG for the N64. h: I mean, I knew not many RPGs were developed for the system, but the fact that only Mother 3 was able to reach beta testing and was not released is shocking to me. I believe that if the game was released it would have made a HUGE difference...
There was a game that went by the title "Desert Island". Apparently, an RPG that was cancelled for the N64/64DD. I don't know how much progress was made on the project before it was cancelled, if any, but I do know that it was one of the few RPG's planned for the console other than Mother 3, and the planned "Pokemon RPG" that never materialized. Also, it should be noted that, the wikipedia's page on the 64DD lists the game's full title as "Desert Island: No Man's Island". So, it could be assumed that SOME progress was made on the game if the company that was producing it (unknown) went as far as to have the name change through development, but that's only a theory of mine. I also know that atleast one pic does exist of the game, as I have an old issue of "IGN Magazine" (which I believe there was only 1 issue of) that has a close up pic of a 64-bit rendered crab sitting on a sandy backround. I'll try my best to track the pic down online; (considering even if I do find the mag laying around somewhere, I don't own a scanner to be able to upload it)
Oh, thanks! That's good news. I did not know about the existence of Desert Island. I'll look for info on that game. Thanks
Well i'll be damned, there were some screens right under my nose. Good find! Still no crab pic though....there must be more info and screens of this game somewhere.
This one?: Sorry, not the best scan.. it is from some years ago. If you want, i'll try to find the original magazine and make a new one. The italian text does not say much more than the IGN article - Simulation game / RPG - You can observe the evolution of the island's animals - You could try to create a new civilization
Wow, thanks But it's hard to assume the game would be a RPG. Maybe it would be kind of Doubutsu no Mori or something like this. Also, another article related to this game mentions another RPG by Imaginer, Suul. My guess is that Suul turns out to be a BAD romanization of Zool, which turns out to be Zool: Mahou Tsukai Densetsu, released in cart format in 1999. EDIT: THANKS mononess!!! Great scan!
Yes! That's the exact same magazine I have, but in english. Same picture and everything. Thanks for uploading that:icon_bigg
Is there anything people at Assembler don't know? The Desert Island pics look cute. For some reason I don't remember anything about the game. Odd. Seems like something I would've been into too.
