The manual of the big tv says it uses Quintrix tech or something.. it stretches the sides of the screen.. Maybe that was the problem
Was there a stock S-Video cable for the N64, or is it an aftermarket mod sort of thing? BTW, nice to see you around these parts again. :-D Yes, Custom Robo is awesome. I'd be able to report on Rakuga Kids, but I haven't been able to find one of those damn PAL->NTSC/UC converter carts yet. I've currently got 5. :smt043 The only thing that REALLY gives me problems is the 32x, but that's just because the RF switch is ghetto and crappy to begin with. I've got enough componet cables that it might be time to invest in one of those fancy switchboxes or something. :smt045
RF is of considerably inferior quality compared to even composite video. The N64 had an S-video cable available, right?
Mine works fine, but I sure did fill up all four "slots" pretty fast. Get one with a good amount of spaces.
I *think* all PAL N64s had RGB output (I've seen ones sold here that do anyway), like all the PAL Gamecubes do too whereas other region models don't. I'd highly recommend getting a good RGB SCART lead if you can find one (try eBay if you're stuck) - it'll beat the shit out of everything else. Especially on big TVs, but it even makes a hell of a difference on the average 14". I was thinking of doing a comparison of different connections on different consoles some time. I have a capture card, so I can do RF, comp. and s-video with that - only problem is comparing RGB to everything else. Taking pictures of TV screens is a pain in the arse. And I have 4 TVs, and NONE of them can do s-video! Grrr.
No, no mod required. Nintendo sells the s-video cable themselves, though the third party cable that I have has both composite and s-video plugs (which is useful if you have a Tristar 64). Heh, that's why I prefer piracy. Woo! (Actually, I never was able to get the European Rakuga Kids ROM to work, so I use the Japanese one). ...word is bondage...
