Imagine the potential advertising for this overpriced, 21st Century 32X:

    Milo + Kate + YOU = Kinect
Kinect with Milo, Kate and 20 different Kinectimals - exclusive to Xbox 360!

    ('Kin' Hell)

Mizoguchi's Child of Eden looks like a succesor to Rez, so there something to look forward to.

Not enough to justify a $99+ price tag.

So its $150, fucking neogaf, but still thats 50 bucks over what most expected to pay for it.

MS is really pushing things for gamers: no price cut, the new X360 gets yet another shitty propietary HDD (and charges you $20 for the data transfer adapter!) and news is that they pretend to keep selling the same old crusty hardware for another 5 years!

That last point aside, if Sony really cuts the PS3 to $199, AND Move doesnt sucks balls/is less expensive than kinect then expect MS to end in last place this gen, maybe even worse than with the first Xbox.

I picture a game about fondling a 12 year-old girl in a subway, then getting her mother/brother to massage your balls while you do it.

what happens if you and your family are watching a movie and you get up start moving about the room, passing around popcorn, etc.? will Kinect just start randomly rewinding, skipping scenes, and pausing the movie?

This is a question a lot of people are asking. One good one is whats a matter if you watch a film in the dark like a lot of people do? Will it still work in dark light? I reckon a lot of people will be asking questions like this today/tomorrow on the show floor

$189.99? Yeah, in a PS fanboy's dreams. In the real world, there has yet to be any pricing on the product.

I expect they'll try and match PS Move's price ($119.99) or potentially even undercut it, seeing as they're keeping their cards close to their chest on the whole thing. (PS Move is $49.99 for the main controller, $29.99 for the navigation controller, and $39.99 for the camera).

EDIT: Corrected the prices - actually $119.99. Rumour is that Kinect will be $149.99 at launch (£99.99 in the UK), as pointed out by subbie and various news sources.

One thing the 360 fanboys will probably parrot over the coming months is that to kit out 4 players using PlayStation Move will cost almost $320, rather than the 360's $149.99.

I seriously doubt this will be an issue - unless you like spilling popcorn everywhere, I doubt you'll be flicking your hands in such a way to be misinterpreted by the console. In any case, if such a massive mistake had been made, I will be concerned for the quality control of the entire dashboard - not just Kinect! :p

My bad, I heard that in neogaf, but its still $150, which is not exactly expensive since with that much you can only buy a complete set of Move for 1P (or 2 Dildos for 2P:lol:) while kinect is 2P right out of the box.

Anyone else notices a short of agreement between companies regarding prices? Sony could've undercuted MS big time by releasing a $199 PS3, but didnt and instead released move suspiciously close to kinect's price

Meh, guess we won't get the price wars from the last 2 gens, maybe the hardware market is cooling down and theres no need to "get there quick" like before.

Be ready to get off your ass people. =)

The voice commands still work, but every game we've seen and even simple menu navigation have to be done with you out of your seat. That's not exactly how I want to watch my movies. If the focus for Kinect is creating games like Dance Central that naturally would require you to be off your couch, that's great. But I have to say, no one thinks "I am driving a car!" while standing up in their living room.

No word on if that's temporary or not. They've got four-five months to fix this. I mean, seriously?"

All those menu ideas are pretty neat but seriously a remote does all this effectively already! And without the need to look like a complete nob doing it. You know the old saying if it aint broken don't fix it right? I really can't see anyone using it as a menu navigation or for films to be honest

Having to stand is a big drawback. I can see using the voice command for accssing a menu and so on as long as it's good. I mean, the phone 3Gs voice reconition software is amazing. As long as I set the system settings to UK it will even undestand my words if I use a Liverpool accent!! Amazing stuff but it won't understand my wifes name unless I set the phone to Japanese setting. Only a minor drwback though. I just call her smith now :)

The reaction time is not very impressive (there is a time lag). Hopefully that will improve.
