All I can say is WOW  , this looks absolutely amazing from the screens and concept vids. Has anyone with a Jeg Dev set-up actually played the first level demo? How is it? I'd love to see a video of the demo level running.

Looks like the developers might have played R-Type at some point in their lives ;)

TBH, had this actually come out, I'd probably have a Jag just for this and AvP.

The game is cool as hell. You don't need a dev set up to play it either. There are plenty of demos out there. Infact BattleSphere Gold came with the demo.

The game is awesome and RPA is correct, you just a need a bypass cart to play it. The ROM is freely available as is the source. This would have been an amazing shooter on the Jaggy and probably would have brought alot of "shooter" fans to the system. Different folks have picked the project up and tried to finish it, but have given up. Shame, would love to see it completed!

Oh, that's a relief! I'll just walk to the corner store and buy a Battlesphere cart! :icon_bigg

...oh wait, if only Battlesphere was produced in reasonable quantities.

LOL...I think there is a good amount of BS's out there but a lot of people are hoarding them. I would love to set up a network one day, I have plenty of network devices but only two BS's (one of each). A much cheaper and probable solution would be to buy Protector SE with the Native demo. You get a good game that also doubles as a bypass cart.

I've got the glass-mastered version from B&C Computervisions. IIRC if you buy the CD Bypass cart you get a copy free. Check http://www.myatari.com for details.

    From that site:

    JAGCDBY CD Bypass cart $30.
CD Bypass is a developers bypass cart to allow you to run CDROM
programs as if you had a developer Jaguar before they have been
encrypted. It is now shipping with a glass mastered Native
Demo from Carl at Songbird. Native does not have sound.

  12. Wait, wasn't this the game that some group was working on porting to the Dreamcast?

And yeah, the Battlesphere issue is a bunch of garbage - the game was produced in reasonable qualtities, but the prices were crap right from the get-go.

Dear Scatologic: Thanks for crafting a release so accessable to affluent Jaguar fans. Now what about the rest of us?

Yes, someone was working on a port to the DC. Man, that would have been AWESOME!

The B&C Bypass Cart is a great cheap solution if you don't want to shell out for Protector SE or BSG ($500+).

One of my fave unreleased Jag games :)

Sadly it would have been a whole lot of work to fit it into a cart if they wanted sound; they were using the DSP to decompress the level graphics on-the-fly, as I recall, so there wouldn't have been too many cycles left to do sound. If, as was intended, they got to do a CD release then they could've stored the graphics with much less compression and added a funky soundtrack too :-(

One of the games that would have been excellent if finished. This and Phase Zero would have been excellent...

It just may be the most "underrated" and "overcriticized" system out there..... Don't blame the system, blame the company for their release of games before they were "ready".....

Maybe, it's cool it has it's devoted fans, but being a 3DO fan I hate the way they are usually branded together when really they have nothing in common bar release spheres.

  19. Well its the versatility of the machine that allows it to keep amazing people. The developer isnt locked to a certain processor for a certain task though some are better than others at certain processing abilities.

Exactly. The Jag was probably the most unutilized system ever made, along with the 32X. I remember I was in a discussion on another forum, the question posted was "what's the most powerful 2D machine", and when I posted my thoughts I mentioned the Jag, and everyone scoffed at it. I think the Jag is similar to the Saturn in that it can produce amazing 2D games with the 3D abilities tacked on.

I seem to be a lover of so-called "shitty consoles". My list of favorites include the Jag, 3DO, CD-i, and Super A'can. Am I deranged?
