Thanks for the link, I've been looking for a replacement gear for what feels like forever now (though I never thought to check ebay), although I'm not sure how strong a 3D printed part would be, I always assumed it'd be quite brittle. Regardless, I've just ordered one, I'll be sure to comment on it here when it arrives, but considering I live in the UK and it's shipping from Greece, it might be a while.

Although, if something does come of a cast metal gear, I might use one of those instead.

I usually dremel the gear hole until it is slightly loose and barely spins freely and then glue it to the shaft. It’s a simple problem that it was held in place by tension but was too thin to be mechanically stable. It’ll break again if a replacement isn’t made better than the original or the cause of breakage isn’t addressed so any fix has to consider the engineering fault.

It took a while, as the seller couldn't send one straight away due to there being a fault in one batch of gears (it's refreshing to see integrity in a seller) but it finally arrived, and I have it installed, re-greased (white lithium) and ready to go, but I've just discovered the drive spindle motor is dead, so this is as far as I can test it for now, but all seems good.

Here's a quick video demonstrating the noise of the drive with the new gear (as I know that's the main concern most of you have):

The gear seems to be a 1-1 replica of the original, but made out of translucent blue filament, I don't know how strong 3D printed parts are compared to injection moulded, but I guess time will tell.

Also, the gear didn't need to be dremeled, due to it already being loose to begin with, so I just stuck it to the shaft with a little superglue.
