Hello everyone, I'm new here and my nature language are not English(So please forgive me if I did something wrong). I just got a XeDK, but I've never seen a Dev kit like this. The stickers on console shell tells this is a prototype. The Sitcker on back was removed so I can not get the manufacture date(but the DVD drive was on 05'). It has an extra small pcb with a switch(Dip). There's about 10 leds on Mobo, 8 on the extra pcb. This one does not work now, current status is: Cooling fan at 100% speed since power on 1 red light blinks (leds on Mobo and pcb blinks as well) Can pair the wireless controller but nothing more No video output Network port damaged There's some photos I was taken last night. (Sorry, I don't know if it's illegal to public those photos, using Private Messages to me to get the photos please. or just told me if it's OK, then I'll post the link here) As you can see, there's no "XBOX360" mark on the console shell(even both sides) and DVD-ROM tray. I've got 3 questions: What does this kind of Xbox 360 for? The leds on Mobo and pcb keep blinks, does meaning anything? Can I make this console work? Thanks a lot!

Well I can see it's 007 model which is indeed a prototype but I have no idea why the network port is gone.I wonder if you could update to get it working again but then you would need a very early recovery disc which is very hard to come by.
Thanks Pikkon, thanks for your answer. But it's no video output and 1 red light, how can I update this one? Do I need a 7978 or even an older version?
Oh god no. Prototype kits will not run a recovery that recent. I believe it will only go up to 4xxx. Xenon/gamerfreak will probably reply with the exact version.
Well that certainly is a Hottie try getting an older recovery and fixing it im sure it would go for a pretty penny on the marketplace
Sell it and buy a real htpc case. It'd be a shame for a prototype unit to be sacrifised to make a case, when good htpc cases sell for 200 bucks.
That case is unique, don't ruin it. Someone would probably give you more than enough to get a few retails to hack apart for this kit in its current condition.
I didnt post the link, this one http://if80ng.bay.livefilestore.com...eKMh7F3g2p0GgQn5b_7xwBuQjh5MldTA/DSC07689.JPG
sign, It's useless for now unless someone could tell me how can I fix this. And ebay banned me becose I can't provide an valid U.S. addres and phone number.
That's a weird xbox indeed. Probably a decent test subject but I wouldn't price it at much really, as there's other prototypes being sold for normal kit prices jaspers and falcons, that actually work, and will last a long time. To add to MTW's statement, it's not prototypes that won't update higher than 4xxx(4929), but it's beta kits. More specifically a Xenon Beta 2 Kit, where as a Xenon Beta 1 Kit will not update to that even. ;P Some of those Beta kits don't have Xbox 360 text on the side, and like I've said, I've seen black ones like that, with similar stickers, but not without an ethernet port. Doesn't look like it's in good shape much either based off the side sticker being raped hah. Although the LEDs and etc are normal. Some of my kits have multiple LEDs scattered on the motherboard as well. Anyways school, I'll analyze later.
Thanks Xenon.7. Please forgive my poor English, and I can't fully understand what you said: "it's not prototypes that won't update higher than 4xxx(4929), but it's beta kits. More specifically a Xenon Beta 2 Kit, where as a Xenon Beta 1 Kit will not update to that even." Is that means this prototype can not update to 4xxx? And, prototype/Beta kits, which released earlier? Again, thanks for your info. I'm still fighuring out how to make this one work.
A prototype is simply any hardware revision that hasn't received regulatory approval. A beta kit is a specific revision of hardware that was sent to developers. It was not final in the system spec sense, but it wasn't a prototype in the sense that a Falcon prototype is. That said, the beta kits are *MUCH* rarer than a current revision prototype. The downside is that a beta kit is merely a collector piece, even if fully working. A "moment in time" if you will. You wouldn't do anything useful with a beta kit aside from looking at really old software. -hl718
