For those who don't know, V. 1.7 was supposed to allow people that downloaded Playstation games from the Playstation store to play it on their PS3. Thing is, I can't figure out how to do that. When I try to download Crash Bandicoot, it keeps telling me to plug in my PSP. Please don't tell me that you have to play it from your PSP or something....

yes thats how it works. Those games are ment only for the PSP. However I think they just released a new firmware for PS3 that lets those games also be played on the PS3 and not just the PSP.

On a side note the custom hacked firmware for the PSP 3.03 and above allow any PS1 game to be played on the PSP although some games do have problems most work fine.

Nope, doesnt work, Sony lied. They need to replace the games that are there with new versions, which if you bought the PSP version, you wont have to buy it again. These updates will come by May according to Sony. I made the same mistake so.

Oh for fucks sake...Those goddamn corporate bastards...Seriously, someone needs to say something to the Better Business Bureau about this, because that is just plain out lying to people about what their product can do...

Only if you bought it with said new feature as an advertised feature. From what I have read the PS1 games you downloaded to play on the PSP have been altered to take out multi-player modes and some other non-working bits (link mode for instance). Since the PS3 can facilitate extra players, the versions of games with the multi-player modes disabled are getting remodified to reenable them.

Erm, I am not sure if anything is ripped out of games in the first place. I just think the emulator on the psp states there is only 1 controller plugged in and the game takes this into account (I did a few psx games and you have to check if controllers are plugged in).

Esentualy what happen with ps3 is they changed the certification setup on ps1 downloads. The changes must be addressed in the software they currently have avalible, tested then reposted. Personaly I feel it was stupid to post the 1.7 & 3.40 firmware so early when there is no use for them. I also am not sure why the hell it is taking them untill may to get this all sorted out.
