im possibly in the process of modding my new xbox360 GO into a spare crystal green original halo case i have, the only real issue i see at the moment is soldering the original power and eject buttons off the original console to work on the on off and eject button on the xbox 360 board. there is no way im capable of doing this and was hoping someone here would have the skills needed to help me out. all costs covered by me of coures. cheers
oops sorry guys, well im based here in the uk, but even if i have to send it to the usa im happy to get a good job done as you can see i want to still use the old xbox switches and solder on some wires from those switches over to the 360 motherboard switches.
That 360 control board has tons of test points that I'm sure go to every pin on the FPC Ribbon connector. You could just trace the traces to the button and solder a wire from the corresponding test point to the original xbox control board.
ok can you explain that in simpler form for me, as ive never tried anything like this before. looking at the power switch and the eject button im now guessing i will have to wire up a seperate switch for the controller sync switch too maybe..
Get a multi meter and set it to Continuity mode (most models make a sound) and see the green lines in the board? those are traces and you should follow the ones going to and from the button on the face of the board and see is you can see which Test Points (those Circled points with TP#). Once you know which test points are for which button just solder a wires ( usually 2 wires per switch) to the xbox original board buttons. If you can't get this then it's best left to someone with more experience.
Whilst it's not really a big deal in this instance, never put a PCB on a carpet. They can hold large static charges, which kill sensitive components.
