NeoCD/SDL DC Version 9.3 is the lastest of the DC neo CD emulators.

moderators, please remove the link, if the link is forbidden.

This link is perhaps more common known

    http://dcemulation.com/

But anyway, search on google for either emulators on dreamcast, or emulators for dreamcast . As searchwords.

The Neo Geo CD is a great little machine, remember it came out with a Single Speed CD ROM and more memory then the Saturn or Playstation. Some games like Puzzle Bobble load up in one go and are MVS perfect (and cheaper) and there are a few Neo Geo CD or MVS / Neo Geo CD only games. If you can't wait a few seconds for a game to load (and there is a juggling monkey to help you wait...) then you really have issues. ;p

Its crazy not to go for the Supergun/MVS...

    CD=Loadtimearific

    AES=Expensive as hell

I'll still keep my AES, but cheap MVS games and hardware=good.

I very well may have played every neo geo game EVER though Rage X but it's time to start owning some stuff.

To most the Neo Geo is the Holy grail of being hardcore.

A few years ago I had the chance to get a 3 button MVS cab with World Heroes 2 should've taken it it was later replaced with Shodown 2 (and still had 3 buttons)

The best things about the AES is that it's not that expensive (should be able to get a machine and a stick for about $100) and the three best AES games Fatal Fury Special, Shin Samurai Spirits and KOF 98 are cheap, if you pay more then $10 each for FFS or SSS then you're being done... KOF 98 is about $80 or so (more for the US versions). If you want to play Metal Slug or the puzzlers or the other games then get them on Neo Geo CD. Everyone should watch the juggling monkey at least once. Remember taking a break from gaming is good, have a coffee or something. ;)

For my money, the main reason to have the CD unit over any other Neo system is Samurai Shodown RPG. While many games were not ever converted for the Neo CD, SSRPG is the only CD game that didn't have a corresponding arcade or AES cartridge.

Apropos of nothing, I have both an MVS and an AES, a Neo CD and a CDZ unit. My core is quite hard, thank you. :)

Gosh Zintrick, Final Romance 2, Brikinger, Cross Swords 2, ADK World, KOF 96 Collection and Neo Geo CD Special must be a figment of my imagination then... :O

    Neo Geo Top Loading System

    Game: Real Bout Fatal Fury

    Time to Load:

From Start to Welcome Screen: 44 seconds
From Welcome Screen to Character Select: 40 seconds
From Character Select to Fight Start: 50 seconds

    Game: KOF 97

From Start to Welcome Screen: 43 seconds
From Welcome Screen to Character Select: 18 seconds
From Character Select to Fight Start: 55 seconds

    Game: KOF 99

From Start to Welcome Screen: 30 seconds
From Welcome Screen to Character Select: 10 seconds
From Character Select to Fight Start: 53 seconds

    Game: Samurai Showdown 3

From Start to Welcome Screen: 42 seconds
From Welcome Screen to Character Select: 15 seconds
From Character Select to Fight Start: 46 seconds

You can cut those times by about 40% with a CDZ.

KoF 98 everywhere I saw for AES was atleast like 120$.

I think I should mention, if you grab the right MVS board, making a working Supergun is horribly easy. All you really need to do is grab a PC PowerSupply, buy a good jamma harness, a JROK encoder, connect power and jrok to that, plug into your NeoGeo board and plug in a Neo controller into your Neo board. You could probably tap stereo audio off the Neo board if you get the right one.

The hard part of making a Supergun is making it look nice. ;) I've been kicking around the idea of finishing mine. I've got it hooked up right now running Metal Slug X with S-Video. It's alot of fun to play. What I really need to do is tomorrow go by RadioShack and buy 25pin soldercup connecters. Then go buy some wood. Maybe some panel mounts for RCA and S-video too.

It's such a shame I haven't finished mine but I blame it on my LCD TV. It won't sync to Mortal Kombat and that has pissed me off extremely. If my LCD did display MK nicely you could bet I would have finished the SG months ago.

So if you really want to get into NeoGeo do MVS and get a SG together.

The CDZ makes the Sony Playstation look like the most well made and hardy console in the world ever. Don't buy a CDZ, I don't think I've ever come across a more badly designed piece of crap ever, the CD units fail far too much. Buy the front loader if you want to look cool. ^_^

Saw it in Akihabara a few days ago for Y7000... not in ultra anal mint minty never been touched by human hands but in decent condition with a manual.

You could always buy a MVS converter for the AES.

That is if you dont want to build a supergun, or just prefer having the console.

Consider the fact that those converters cost 250$, and that you could easily build or most likely buy a ready made Supergun or better yet a used jamma cabinet for that much... NeoGeo System + MVS Converter costs too much. You could get an original MVS cabinet instead if you are spending that much.

I bought a 4 by 8 sheet of MDF tonight, hopefully I'll be able to cut all the pieces I need tomorrow.

Xbox interlaces the picture. Bad.... horrible even, for NG games.

Yes, but then you have to deal w/ the Neo Geo community.

Figure this is as good of a place as any. Anyone want to list the CD only games? I know of only one: Brikinger.

Okay, for clarity SSRPG is the only game (worth playing) on the Neo CD that didn't also have a corresponding AES cartridge. :)

Seriously, thanks for the correction. I didn't realize there were that many exclusives, although I could swear there are AES versions of Crossed Swords 2 and KOF 96 Special. Do those maybe contain dumped ROM chips, the way that people put MVS chips in AES carts?

This page probably describes the Neo Geo CD games in a better form in terms of if they do exist in any form on MVS or AES carts. Zintrick for example was reversed engineered and converted from CD to AES format (although lacks any music as it was CD based....).
