  8. Ooooh, so potentially, if the Roms get released, I can hopefully get an MVS version of Brikin'ger. Hurrah. Not the best shmup in the world, but it's still another Neo shmup, and a previously CD only release too. Woo

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that ROMs of unreleased games were not permitted here.

The game never saw an official release, so I posted the link.

I'm sure people would love to try it out.

But if its forbidden here, I understand.

Damn, 2 strikes on me so far, I'm so used to NG.com :smt083

EDIT: Are the sales of hacked prototypes (burned, EPROM ect) permitted?

i.e. Thrill Kill, Zintrick MVS... you know what I mean.

None yet, but expect these in a few months if everything goes as planned.

Ghostlop was released by me on 4/4/04.

It was financed by 6 people including myself.

We felt it was in the best interest of the Neo Community to release this game to the public at no cost instead of hoarding and making money off of it.

The original dump was made by an overseas individual who purchased the original proto cart from a well known Neo-Geo prototype fanatic, and converted into 20 AES carts and 5 MVS carts with epoxy covering the EPROMS.

It took the skills of a highly experienced member of the Neo Community to remove the epoxy and dump the game.

    I then released the game.

Yes, but there is way more to that story.

Why do you think he caked the EPROMS?

To protect his "bootlegging scam" that was going on.

The original proto was offered for $3000, which this individual purchased it for.

He then went ahead and made homebrew stickers, inserts and manuals for the "bootleg" carts he was selling for $1000 a pop.

We teamed up and purchased one of these carts in hoping that the epoxy could be removed and the game could be dumped and kept off the open market.

So basically we did everyone a favor.

    I don't understand?

    You agree with me?

    Disagree?

You think I'm patting myself on the back too hard?

A putty like substrance that's used to (in this case) mark that the cart's eeprom is not an original proto.

No, he used it to hold the eproms on the PCB, so that if someone would try to remove it, the game would self destruct, in a way.

Profiteering is not a good idea unless you yourself spend considerable assets in aquiring the item.

If I spent, say, $20,000 to get RE 1.5 I would expect to get that much in return before I drop it on irc or in newgroups.

    Just me.

BTW epoxy can be made very brittle with temperature change, but I am sure they must have practically destroyed the cart they bought to get the eproms free.
