Maybe this is the right place to put the review I saw instead the neogeo forum. http://vgleaks.com/review-neosd-mvs/ At least we have a "cheap" option to play in original hardware.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1295812 Why is neogaf full of absolute fucking idiots? All of these comments are making me cringe.
Excellent bit of kit but kind of expensive for what hardware it's holding. Still, I'm sure Neo Geo fans would pay that much.
Nice bit of kit but expensive, and especially the way, the UK Sterling is right now with Euro exchange rates, it's only gonna get worse.
Definately expensive but you'd make up the cost by not buying 2 games. I believe games sold for 200 back in the day and I imagine they are collectors items now. So not cheap.
MVS games aren't actually too expensive, it's AES games that are the real wallet-killers. Lots of MVS games are around $20 - $70.
Did you see the part where I said "lots of" and not "all"? You know full well all of the Samurai Shodown, King of Fighters, and Metal Slug games can be bought for under $80 each.
If I may offer my humble option, the hardware looks nice but I am not sure if people would pay that much (in large enough numbers) to make it profitable. The reason being, people who want to own discrete copies of the game(s) will simply buy them separately. For those who want them all (or a large portion of them), they'll just go buy a Chinese multi-cart for $50~$60 or a bootleg of the one title they are missing, and call it a day. This is especially true when a multi-cart has zero load time (just bankswitches), vs a flash cart that takes 3~4 minutes to write a game each time you change it. Again this is just my opinion. I'm sure there will always be die-hard fans who will buy, but it's still an uphill battle. But the hardware does look nice!
I just hope the demand is strong enough to keep these in stock for awhile. I'd love to have one, but I wasn't planning on dropping the grand that it's going to take to buy one and a MVS board with all the trimmings.
Design-wise looks good, however the fact you have to insert the SD on the side of the flashcard, instead of the top is somehow problematic, due to MVS design. I think the biggest turn down, is the lack of a USB port. I fail to see how it's being advertised as a tool for developers in late 2016, and missing such a major component.
Agree. With SD insert on the side it wont fit homemade arcade Neo Geo MVS 1 Slot Motherboards? SD card should be on top. Bad design imho
I really hate when people say they will use something like this for "backups" when most people I have known who use a flash solution like this use it for games they either don't own or are too expensive to own. Backups in its traditional definition would indicate you are playing games you own but sadly today its been used as a nicer way to say you are going to pirate a game or illegally download a game. That being said, for people looking for the AES option, you could always run this $420 flash cart (current conversion applied) on an MVS board with Universe bios.
