We all know the scan from the Ninteno Magazine, and here are some real pictures! More: http://www.ga-forum.com/showthread.php?p=1359664
Wow, Fantastic! Glad they went for the actual D-pad though, that design looks v uncomfy and far too 80's for my liking (yes i know it was designed in the 80s, but just too cheesy stylised 80s) Also, was the NEs going to use Tapes then? Because that would seem very odd since most consoles (i.e. not spectrums etc. which were computers) seemed to use carts.... EDIT: LAter in the forum it says it was a tape drive accessory. Doh!
Yeah I think they planned casettes. Or maybe you can click the Nintendo advanced video system open and there's room voor a Nes cartridge ?
Yup. It's no different than any other tape recorder though BTW, if the NES was going to be "Advanced Video System" that would probably deter SNK from using "Advanced Entertainment System" and NG AES would likely have a different name! *hyakumegashock*
Wow! that's really hot to finnally be able to see this after all this time that passed. And as for the ''Tape'' thing, most of the old computers in the old days had tape extensions to let you save your data and/or programs, An since we can see a keyboard later, this option seems to fit the best.
I LOVE this type of design. It's... so 80s geometric. It's like... so retro it's futuristic. I love the D-Pads, too. I'd SO buy a famiclone that looked like that. This is a great link!
I have to agree too. It looks really cool. The eighties produced some horrible stuff but that is mega. Dunno about the controllers though. I like my hands too much to have them stabbed.
Boy, that looks like a regular MSX unit. But I'm with Xerdo and everyone else - a Famiclone in the shape of that first proto would be really cool, especially if the tape deck part popped open and that was where your carts went. Let's hope some enterprising Hong Kong or Taiwanese pirates are reading this article, eh?
Honestly this is a testament as to how well designed the NES was. It's hard to imagine even for a second if we had this playing ninja gaiden or SMB3. It amazes me sometimes at how well designed the original NES was.
