Was just wondering if I could get a price check on my Sony PlayStation Net Yaroze DTL-H3001.

Hasn't been used, only been opened for photos as pictured. Contains the full package with everything in brand new condition.

    Cheers :)

Prices for these seem to be all over the place, especially on eBay and Yahoo Auctions. I've seen complete systems like yours sell for as much as $2000 USD and as little as $700, and then just the console for $350 - $500 on its own. It depends a lot on where you're planning to sell it, eg. you wouldn't get $1500 here but you'd probably get that on eBay if you're patient enough.

I saw similar boxed excellent condition sell on Yahoo Japan Auctions in January for about US$850 (add 15-20% for commission fees and shipping); they appear quite frequently on YJA so good place to keep an eye on them; I'd be buying from there over eBay because as DeChief says eBay prices are inflated.

I have no idea on cost, I presume the white box has the PC / serial cable, memory card and disc in it?

From what I've seen on eBay, most people seem to buy them for collecting as I've seen a few go for a good amount without the cable.
I occasionally look at the completed listings to see what eBay values are like, but mine has some good memories attached to it for me.
If you actually wanted to use one, it's the cable that's the valuable bit - with that you can basically make any Playstation a Net Yaroze (with a copy of the hacked boot disc to skip the memory card check and a Playstation that skips the copy protection check).
Technically, the console itself is just a region free Playstation with a nice finish.

    Still, looks really nice.

When I think what we used to do with those boxes - chair bowling, where we stacked the boxes up and 'bowled' a chair at them!
And to think I never got one, nor the documentation books for myself!
    Students eh..

The white box does indeed include the serial cable, memory card and disc inside which I saw a lot of listings don't even have this let alone the book/CD equivalent of it. Is it true more PAL/JP versions are common than the US versions?

I can see some listings with the prices inflated as hell as well (wouldn't price it as $10K+)

Though chair bowling does seem pretty fun.. :D

To be honest, I've never paid much attention to US versions since I'm in in the UK and mine is a UK version. Also, mine is incomplete, only console, disc, cable, 1 pad - no documentation (well, I have the CD version), box or memory card - but I did use it through uni.
Our lab at University was a Yaroze lab, each PC had next to it a Yaroze and a Sony 14 inch colour TV, maybe 40 in total.
Pretty sure there was a second Yaroze lab too, with similar numbers.
Some of the boxes we piled on a few cupboards at the end of the lab.
No idea what happened to all of those consoles!

haha, I graduated 14 years ago, not much chance of that!
By the time I reached my last year the Yaroze had been replaced with Ps2 with Linux dev kits installed too.

You don't really need any of it. It's perfectly possible to use the Yaroze toolset with a modchipped retail console, the hacked boot disc and a USB<->Serial converter (the FTDI based ones are nice because you can just invert the handshake lines in software and don't need hardware inverters).

One thing that genuinely is a nice feature of the Yaroze console is that they will generate correctly timed video in both PAL and NTSC mode, which is something that even the debugs can't.

I might be willing to buy it if it comes with the boot disk. It's the only known disk with an "SCEW" region lock. I'm quite curious whether my midnight blue PS1 (SCPH-7000W) would boot a Yaroze boot disk, but it would be rather expensive to find out!

Yarozes and midnight blue SCPH-7000Ws have hand-soldered PAL clock crystals on them in order to support this. Some debugs also do, but not many.

It's quite easy to do this conversion yourself as well, of course.
Any PU-8-21,22,23 or 41 mainboard has a spot for the additional oscillator.
I've done this mod to a few consoles and I agree: This is a nice feature, especially if you mix and match regions a lot.

PS1 dev hardware prices rises last two years. I would say 750€ + is a good price for it.

there's no memory card. what looks like the black memory card is the key lock(?) as part of Net Yaroze syste, along with the dongle cable and CD-ROM with software. Plus the usual manual and etc.
Might be good idea to take photo of those included as well for the potential buyers. :)
