So I got so much hate on YouTube because I stated that the Saturn had good FMVs in the library of games. I may have been incorrect in some areas, but to be honest, I never really see the quality video people were raging at me about. They all seem to be Playstation fanboys having fanboy rage. Besides I personally prefer the SEGA Saturn and it's audio/video. Now I've had a handful of people abusing my channel, rating down every video, etc posting rude comments and what not. So what do I do? :suspicion: I can't believe people can be so uptight about someone's opinion on a console's performance. I'm happy to post the comments here, but they all just started to be personal attacks (using my background and what not). So has anyone else ever fell victim to this?
I don't really have this problem. I've actually converted a few people into Saturn fans. A few days ago I had some friends over and we were playing Sega Rally Netlink edition, and they both said it looked much nicer graphically than Gran Turismo.
Just ignore them, who cares if you get dumb comments from some people? Youtube's full of them. And it's not like they even know anything about the Saturn besides the fact that it's probably appeared on some retarded Top 10 Worst Consoles (And Some Random Pop Culture References Because We Know You Morons Love Them) article on Cracked.com.
Wouldn't the same go both ways? Anyway, who gives a shit if a bunch of Youtube users are giving you a hard time? Anyone who has used Youtube who isn't smart enough to just stay away from the comments and commenting themselves will know that it contains some of the most vile people imaginable, as they come from all over the world to watch a plethora of content and are under the veil of anonymity. I say that with no malice, I too am often not smart enough to stay away from the comments. On every video I have seen, the first page of comments always has either, A. Someone stating wrong information in reply to someone else who stated the right information. B. Someone talking down to other users for almost zero reason. C. Someone who must flaunt their opinion over the top as if it were solid fact. D. Someone begging you to like their comment. E. *Insert anything imaginable here* There is always some inane and vulgar comment that will set me off, warranting a comment. I would say, about 75% of the time that I start typing out a reply to these complete morons, I end up deleting it and leaving the page before I am done. It just isn't worth it, & I wish I could remain neutral when I read such outright dumbassery, but it is innate in me as a primate.
I looked up a clip from the movie Casper on youtube. I was looking for the cameo appearance of one of the Ghostbusters. The comments were about things like, Casper has no dick. Casper not having a dick is the least of his problems. Casper's tail is kind of like a dick. Flame wars about how the cameo was stupid and that the Ghostbusters could totally have captured the ghosts in the house. Even more debate over why something could or couldn't happen in regards to the Ghostbusters. Youtube comments when the moderation option is not used are just like any other anonymous internet forum section. Dumb people making dumb comments and then people feeding these trolls. As for rating down things, don't worry about it. It's a nasty minority of people that spend their time making dumb comments and rating down things. So just ignore it and use moderation or actively remove stupid comments.
Not sure what exactly you said, but the Sega Saturn's picture quality in FMV is indeed much inferior to the PlayStation's. While the LaserDisc games such as Time Gal, Ninja Hayate et cetera are fun to play, the PlayStation ports had higher quality video. Why it looks so blocky and awful on the Saturn is a mystery to me, considering that there was an Video-Card out there at the time that made much higher quality possible (i.e. for Lunar MPEG-ban).
Every point made here is pretty much why I avoid commenting on YouTube videos in general. It's humanities' asshole in a nutshell. It's especially irritating when people make such comments on my own videos, and especially when PEOPLE REPEATED ASK STUPID QUESTIONS FOR THINGS THAT CAN EASILY BE FOUND ON THE DAMN INFO BOX OF THE VIDEO. Those are the people I hate the most on YouTube. I actually got criticized once by others for calling out dumb lazy people who prefer being spoon fed instead of taking the couple of minutes of doing the easy research for answers; I wanted a machine gun so bad that day.
Never post opinions. NEVER. You're asking to have a new one ripped, whether you deserve it or not. People are such flagrant assholes when it comes to others' opinions.
I can and I do. People really hate being told the Dreamcast is overrated too. When the Good game to Shit game ratio speaks for itself.
I actually never compared it to any other console at the start. I just posted a comment in reply to the uploader (I comment on every single one of his uploads), then two randoms came along and said the Saturn's FMV quality is crap, and just saying "no it's not good". I clearly said to the uploader in the comment "The Saturn had great FMV for the time" basically it was just how I viewed the Saturn when I saw the video, even many games I owned looked great compared the Playstation, but that's just what my eyes are telling me, regardless if it's true or not. None of them stated WHY the Saturn's FMV was horrible or not until I started mentioning the Video Card you mentioned. They were stirring me up (you'd know how easy that is to do ;p) and I started to be the warrior of the keyboard. I really don't care if they disagree with me, but calling me a 'dumb aussie fuck' doesn't clear up anything about the Saturn's video. So now many are just following the sheep and saying Playstation is better... That's fine if they like the Playstation more, I guess the 'smart ones' will never understand what an opinion is. Like I said, I'm happy to show you the comments - but this guy was being a smart ass resulting me trying to stand my ground. @DefectX11: I've learn't the hard way haven't I? I should add many of them said that PAL games (including for the XBOX, yeah I got shit for collecting for that too) were only 50hz and they all suck. Including every other PAL system I own. Aiiiyaiiyaaiii. Also, thanks for the support guys
as for the video vote down, turn off voting on your videos until everyone calms down. Fanboys are fickle and when they realize they can't get back at you they'll back off. Fanboysim is retarded.
In general the Saturn does have worse picture quality when it comes to FMV due to the shitty Cinipack codec that was used HOWEVER, there are some games that have excelent FMV and DON'T use the MPEG cartridge such as Magical Hoppers (Japanese version of Pandermonium), Crystal Dynamics games and games that use True Motion such as Konami's shotters, Last Bronx and GunGriffon. Another game with great FMV but I'm not sure what codec it uses is Lunar 2. That looks really shrap. Just check out the video on my site - http://www.segagagadomain.com/movie-pages2/lunar2.htm Then there are games that use the MPEG cartridge and this blows away PlayStation FMV. Gun Griffon again (Japanese version only), Chisato Moritaka's la La Sunshine, Wangan Dead Heat, Luna MPEG Edition and so on.
Despite the differences in video quality between the consoles I think the Saturn still had some amazing FMVs. Many times I was blown away by what I saw back in the day, things like Nights into Dreams and Fighters Megamix stand out in my mind. Even things like the Sonic Team logo were a treat to see. I love the Saturn just because it's so colourful and vibrant, with what it got wrong it still got a lot right.
For one, the cutscenes in Deep Fear are just amazing. Oh and I'll even things up a bit on Youtube, ratings-wise.
All this FMV talk now I can probably ask..if I get a Japanese MPEG Card would it work on my non Japanese Saturn? I should really cave in and just get a Japanese Saturn. ALL the games I'm getting for it are Japanese anyway. Edit: Google is my friend apparently I CAN.
i will never understand the console fanboy arguements. ever since i was a kid i decided to get each of the consoles because i love them all and they all have their own merit, by this i mean exlusive titles. you see so many people arguing these days over whats best ps3 or xbox360 and to me both consoles are a lot of fun but for me it was never a choice of either one. without ps3 i don't get god of war titles and uncharted titles, without xbox360 i don't get halo titles. i love my saturn especially for some of the great shoot em ups which were not ported to other consoles and the ps1 has a lot of exclusives also like the crash bandicoot series and so on. i can understand the odd debate if a multiplatform title sucks on one system and rules on another but tbh that usually works both ways with different titles on different systems. bottom line is play them all, enjoy them all. games are for fun and not for bitching about surely lol.
people are dumb 99% of youtube comments are angry horny spoilt ill educated obnoxious 12 year olds. and then there's fan boys of course. i love the saturn its a great console with some great games. and a console i prefer over the psx, but saying that i dont dislike the psx, i like the N64 too, and even on some of the multi platform releases eg resident evil i prefer one console, and for other games i prefer the other consoles etc. play games for the fun! listen to music to enjoy the sound watch a movie to be entertained... simples.
