http://www.unseen64.tk/ actually I don't know if it's new, but it cannot be very old. in their NES SNES MD section, they used my picture of an unreleased Phantasy Star game that was in May-June 1991 Mega Play magazine. they listed it as Phantasy Star V though, which is not possible since IV was still in development and a long way from being released, so they should've put it as "Phantasy Star IV beta?" instead of "Phantasy Star V" they've got some great stuff you might not have seen before, as well as the usual unreleased/beta material we're all familar with.
Its old. The guy isnt bad, but he doesnt speak that great of English. He basically compiles (takes/steals without giving credit in most cases) videos and stuff on the internet. A nice source, but not totally honest.
Indeed, I'm impressed with his collection of Super Mario World photographs. <sigh> Guess I'll watermark my pictures next time, though I never did before, since I think pictures from videogames are not "owned" by one website or another.
He has a You Tube Channel that features many videos from my FTP or my Retro Core show. He originally never gave credit but after a while he started to Yakumo
I agree! Pictures or scans from magazines should not be watermarked IMO because anyone else could have a same issue. But still, credit should be given to where they were found. I remember someone from DigitalPress having a proto of Super Mario World, but I don't think it was an early version with the Racoon Mario. I sure haven't seen it floating anywhere on the net or some rare FTP though. ;-)
That pic "from" PSV was debated some years ago on Phantasy Star Pages (or in another forum, I don't remember very well), and was concluded that it came from a Ys game, not PS related.
as I said, the only thing it could be is an alpha / early version of PSIV, either on cartridge or as IV was originally intended to be, on MegaCD~SegaCD. the picture is from May/Hune, 1991 Mega Play, about 2.5 years before PSIV would be out in Japan (Dec 1993) and almost 4 years before PSIV would be out in the United States (Feb or March 1995). so it could not possibly be PSV. in 1992, Phantasy Star IV was known as "Phantasy Star IV: The Return of Alis" search the board for my thread(s) on the subject. edit: here http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7490&highlight=Alis also, Sega-16.com "stole" / took/ used ........my picture of a July 1992 GamePro article, mentioning Phantasy Star IV: The Return of Alis which was supposed to be both a 12 megabit MD-Genesis cartridge and also a much larger CD-ROM version. but i am not actually upset by this at all. hey if some large or medium website takes my pictures, using them to show off things that otherwise would never have been seen on the internet, i am all for it. I am all for the spreading around of obscure/forgotten/unremembered/unkown (etc) things that were never previously seen on the internet, and never otherwise would be. I dont even care that I got no credit for these things, because in actuality, I don't really deserve the credit, the original publishers/magazines/editors/photo guys do. since in reality, I "stole" the pictures from them in the first place, even though I do give credit to the original source, down to the magazine, issue, date, page, etc.
confusion here, and I'd like to correct it. in an earlier Mega Play magazine the one with a batman cover (Jan-Feb 1991) there was a picture labled Phantasy Star 4 for the MegaCD/SegaCD, it was actually a picture of Y's III. sega-spetsnaz.com had scans of that entire issue, but the website is gone, and I can't find my copy of the magazine. but i know exactly what you mean. what I am talking about is completely something else. the other picture, from May/June 1991 Mega Play is clearly not an Y's game, but looks incredibly Phantasy Star like. almost like PSIII but with new graphics. or what I would have expected from PSIV. it very well may not have been a PS game. I did see a post on PSCave.com forums (which are down) saying that this game was Dungeons & Dragons Warriors of the Eternal Sun, or some other Genesis/MD RPG, and showed a picture of the trees that looked similar, but I was unconvinced.
Unless you took the pictures then I would argue against watermarking them. Otherwise you're basically doing the same thing he is.
hello, i write for unseen 64, we don' t speak english very well, but we have a lot of projects for this site, the real problem is the time, we are very busy with school, university exetera..... the following message is from monokoma (the creator of unseen 64), he told me to write this for you from because he can' t register at the moment: Hi! i'm one of the editors for Unseen 64, as Borman has already write, my english is not really great.. i follow Assembler from a lot of time, but usually i dont write here for this reason. I'm sorry, i hope you will understand me anyway I just want to explain the problems that we have for giving credit on some material. We are collecting beta screens & videos from many years and even friends have given to us some of them, so for a lot of this stuff we dont remember or know where we found them! We are sorry if there are some images or video on the site without any credit, so if you know for certain the source for them, just send us an e-mail and we will update the page with the source, or if you want we will delete them!
Nice to know that they will give credit if you let them know. I think it's a fantastic site that I love to browse through every now and then. yakumo
In his videos he gives credit, but he always puts his site first, which is just terrible. He's stolen from my site too.
I guess the thing to do in that kind of situation is to contact the site owner and explain your case.
