    About this project
    In The Line Of Fire
A brand new First Person Shooter designed for the Sega Dreamcast.

We at Militia Studios have developed a fully 3D game engine for the Sega Dreamcast from scratch, utilizing the hardware as efficiently as possible, while supporting content creation in modern tools such as Maya, Blender, etc.

In the Line Of Fire features a Single Player storyline, as well as Multi Player game modes such as death match, or king of the hill.

In the single player campaign, you will assume the role of a veteran swat officer sent into Goldguard Bank to stop the robbery underway by a yet unknown group of robbers. Despite your best efforts, this mission is a failure.

You will then assume the role of a rookie swat officer, who dedicates his career to finding the robbers responsible for the horrific attacks that resulted in his swat team brothers being killed In The Line Of Fire.

As a rookie you will start with limited skills that will be upgraded as you progress. You will become faster, more accurate, and acquire upgraded weapons as you complete each mission.

Once you gain enough experience, you will no longer be a rookie and will be promoted to commander, and you will have the ability to select your team members, each with unique skills.

Gameplay features a unique hacking system that will allow to you gain access to security cameras ( based on your hacking skill level ), or use your own snake camera ( once acquired ) to mark your target, even assign a member of your team to perform the takedown of the target.

    Use Cameras To Mark Targets
And eventually you will come face to face with the villain you have been hunting for, only to find out he is a part of a much larger crime ring!

If you decide to pledge to get a model created of you, here is an example of how detailed we can create a character ( this is a crime lord that you will encounter later in the game :0 )

Kind of tacky having Sega branding on the GD-Rom mockup, considering they have absolutely nothing to do with this.

Not really, the point is for it to fit in with all your other dreamcast games.

yes really, would be like someone doing up art for a homebrew snes game and slapping the Nintendo seal of quality on it with their URL as well. Take a look at Gunlord to see how to handle unlicensed game packaging.

A lot of homebrew for SNES changes things because Nintendo cares/cared about it at one point. SEGA doesnt seem to.

I don't see how Nintendo supposedly caring more or less than Sega changes anything other than the probability they get served a cease and desist.. This isn't a free fan project. There's individuals actively soliciting for monetary donations while using an active company's trademarked logo and website URL in promotional material that isn't involved in the project. It could simply be an innocent mistake, but It's still tacky and unprofessional.

Pros like Piko Interactive are very careful not to be decorating their product with active logos they didn't get permission for, in fact some say right on the front "not licensed by"

Sega are known to be easy on the homebrew/indie scene, and that makes all the difference.

Free fan projects (like that Metroid 2 remake) sure they probably don't care, guarantee someone wants to start blatantly profiting off their IPs they'd probably step in. Here is a kickstarter asking for money and the first thing you see is a GD ROM with Sega's logo and URL on it.

I don't see the big deal. It makes it look like a legit Dreamcast game(which is the what lots of fans want), The Dreamcast has been discontinued for over 15 years, and Sega doesn't care.

    What's the downside exactly?

uhh, because it's an UNLICENSED dreamcast game that sega has nothing to do with. Sega's logo and url hasn't been discontinued. This isn't complicated.
