So a demo early next year?

Does that mean a release late next year?

I hope they keep it japanese voice with English subs,

    tech-demo presentation & new info.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGYHpvvRHUA (FFXV starts at 22:40)

-Duscae is a toponym, there's an area in the game world.
-Demo length is about 1 hour, but players might play for about 3 hours.
-There's gonna be a bit of overworld and a dungeon.
-Car's in! Chocobos might also be.
-No boss battles, because they're a big deal in the game.
-Trying to make distribution date to be the same as Type 0 HD release date.
-Ignis was driving in the trailer but you can do it yourself, or you can leave it on auto, so Noctis' friends will drive it for you.

-See that Adamantoise? You can fight him.
-But it will take a long while.

    -They're showing the demo.
-Rain effects and thing. Detailed to the point where places under objects don't get wet and when it's sunny it dries up as you go.
-Tech demo they're showing doesn't seem to be Duscae, instead it's the place from E3 2013 trailer where they fought Behemoth.
-There is a realistic dynamic day-night cycle complete with realistic lighting.
    -SWORD WARP IS GAMEPLAY
    -I REPEAT IT'S WORKING GAMEPLAY
-It's much snappier than in the trailer.
-Fought Behemoth and a bunch of goblins. Party members attacked enemies on their own.
-Visual details aren't completely fine-tuned yet.
-Fire spell animation seemed to be based on the shape of the enemy.

Here's a tech demo they showcased at TGS as well. Can anyone who speaks Japanese pick up on anything being said here?

Tech demo was great, to be honest it does look good but I'm keeping my expectations in check. I think they'll release this winter 2015 for Japan and then 2016 for US. That follows the pattern from FF 13 which was a winter release in Japan and then the next year US. If they do a 2015 US release I'll be much happier with Square.

A Final Fantasy game with an overworld?! About freakin' time. How long has it been since we've had one of those in the main series?

Man, between this and Persona 5, I'm seriously considering getting a PS4 now.

not just an overworld, but airships too. maybe not anymore since...

... it seems these last few days haven't been good for XV, tabata is doing a lot of things wrong IMO.

having promised a demo with type-0 was the first mistake. people will expect the game to release the same year, and square will probably strip the game of its vision just to make that a reality. i'm not saying that square is listening to people on the web, nor should they, but it feels with everything square themselves have said lately, it's as if they will try to get this game out ASAP, and that it's too late to back down.

the battle system has changed since nomura left as a director (FFXV was/is nomura's baby all these years..). tabata, now the director of XV, has turned the battle system to a more automated one, whereas nomura's vision was more along action rpg with full control, think kingdom hearts.

i could go on, but it feels to me that ever since tabata took over from nomura, it's like they will try to almost "rush" the game half-assedly, strip it from it's original vision. and for those of us who doesn't care about internet drama or drive-by comments, and just want a good game, this doesn't sound as promising.

the majority of people believe that tabata does everything right because the game finally seems to be getting somewhere, neglecting the fact that it seems stripped of it's original vision. but i guess that's what they want, as that will make them feel vindicated to post how much they knew the game would never live up to its hype, or be that great in general.

i'm not a good writer at all. to clarify, my worries are that tabata will strip the game out of it's original vision to get the game out as soon as possible, without making a bad product, and that i can already see where this is going with reviews of the game and the general consensus of it on the internet, making them feel justified about their shitting on it thus far.

tl;dr "lololollol i knew ffxv wouldn't be that great and never live up to the hype lololol nomura is uncapable of directing a game"

just toxic behavior, and the ironic thing is that "they" will probably end up being right about XV now that tabata is the director.. without realizing why. a solid game.. but still far from what could have been.
