Damn good guess Frank, $589 closing price. I tossed in a bid just under $400 hoping to snag it cheap, but looks like Dream walked away with this guy.

    Congrats Jason!

If anyone's upset about missing out on this fantastic auction, I just want to let you know I can produce (many) replicas for only $579 per box.

Only one order per person, naturally.

I hear you man, but regardless of how weak some people think it is to buy a NKOTB box for near $600, it's a one of kind piece of NES history with a seller who is tied to the game industry. To me, that's pretty damn cool and I'd love to have a piece like that in my collection.

    Different strokes man, that's all.

I'm with mrmark on this. If it's true that this box was used as a hockey puck at EGM, that adds another layer to its value as a piece of history beyond it being a promotional item for an unreleased game.

Well if you ain't in it to win it, then get the hell out!

I may or many not have just quoted a funky bunch song that was totally relevant to this thread...

    Someone top that!

Anyway, a one of a kind NES is always cool in my book, and some of them are several hundred dollars cool to the right people. People spend $1K+ on Stadium Events carts all the time (I'm a member of that sub group too :icon_bigg ), and there are easily 50+ of those floating around. Something this rare is just a cool collectible, and is the most tangible thing available for an unreleased game. Easily worth a few hundred if you ask me, but it's not an item for everyone either.

I agree its always nice when something this rare does show up. I'm sure if a resident evil 1.5 just popped up on ebay you wouldn't hear so many price complaints!

Any reason to why this was re-listed? I thought it was sold? Buyer didn't pay up or what?

Quoted from the seller on Nintendoage:

"DAMN you guys are quick. Yeah, it's relisted. It's a long story. It was a mutual agreement. I'm cool with Dream. [IMG]"

Dream was the high bidder, but for one reason or another, there was some sort of mutual agreement to not complete the sale.

Im guessing they made a deal where Dream would buy lots of protos from her instead...

Let's hope Dream will let us know what happend... :)

Nope, not that sort of deal. She has no NES protos at all, I would have bought them before this box was listed if she did :)

For one reason or another, they decided not to complete the transaction amiably, but there were no other further deals worked out instead.

I have a feeling this will end much lower on upon relisting, maybe even as low as $250. Frank, you feel like making another perfect estimate? ;-)

Wow, over $500 for for a dingy box...someone could make this thing in Photoshop nowadays and sell it as legit.
