Wow :033: That looks really nice, I'm loving the design. As long as the Neo Geo emulation is absolutely bang-on, and you can load your own ROMZ off the SD card. Considering it has shoulder buttons, SNES support would be a fantastic bonus too. However, the real deal breaker is going to be that joystick. If it's as good as the one on the Pocket then I'm sold. Thanks for posting this. Can't wait to find out more details.
That does look quite nice. The list of games could be better though and wth are these.. 2.ULTIMETE 11 9.FRENZY 16.MAGICAL LORD (I do know lol)
Sweet mother of Jesus... This look over-the-top pretty. Looks like an Iphone 4. I hope SDHC support is included, but it probably is.
I hope this is a legit effort. I've seen a lot of Chinese Neo Geo emulated handhelds which look nice, but unless they get the software right it still sucks to play.
Hmmm... it doesn't really seem to be something official given the misspelled names. Also, why the hell does it have L1-2/R1-2 buttons? Is there a PS emu inside? Kind of fishy...
Awesome, but at the same time...... I'm afraid that it will just be a 'rebranded' *insert name here, like dingoo etc.* machine. Whats the use for a 16:9 screen, when it's targeted at 4:3 neo•geo games?
"Famicom Plaza has a look at at the new device, which carries official licensing from SNK Playmore. The device has 4.3 inch screen" I read that wrong guess i'll just stick with a psp
This. I was bewildered when I saw the thread title and then taken back when I clicked on it and saw a "legit" offering. However, I quickly realized that this is a licensed and re-branded flash box. Not that there is anything truly wrong with that (the eerie reality that software is devouring hardware and stand alone consoles will be a thing of the past) but it is all about execution and so far it's looking 50/50. On the plus side: - The design is a bit bland and uninspired but it is still passable. - The multi directional d-pad holds promise but the jury is still out: if it is like the one from the NGP (the most responsive d-pad ever) then it is a win, if not they prepare for potential letdown. On the bad side: - the 16:9 screen is all wrong. I'm not getting a device specifically geared at playing neo geo and then having to stretch the image or have black bars cropping it. This should be a 4:3 machine but that probably isn't even a viable reality due to the fact that this is a cookie cuter machine with a name slapped on it. - The title selection included leaves allot to be desired: I don't know how they are going to handle future titles but all the included titles out of the box being first gen is a big let down. A few, more medern, gems like Metal Slug, Last Blade, NTW, or real bout would be welcome. A few indie hits like bust a move, Nightmare in the dark or windjammers would be clutch as well. Lastly, using this as an opportunity to make previously unreleased titles such as Ghostlop, Last Oysey & others available would be key and garuantee many more sales. - As noted above, while the design is passable it is still a bland & uninspired rip off of the Iphone 4. They could have at least colored the "metal" strip a muted gold to fall in line with the neo geo's design theme. I say "metal" because the build quality of this thing is suspect due to the other devices that have come out of china. The audio capabilities in terms of both on board/built in speaker and headphone out are also critical. I am hoping for the best and at least someone is taking a stab at it. Lets just hope they pull it off nicely.
It may be licensed but it doesn't look high quality. I think I'll stick to the PSP for when I never play NeoGeo games on a portable.
Yeah I bet it's licensed in the same way Sega licensed the RetroGen or GenMobile. In that they licensed the use of the game software to be used. But that's it. Clearly Neo Geo had nothing to do with the design as it's just a generic cookie cutter (one size fits all) emulation system. I think the fact it has a 16:9 screen is only because everything these days has a 16:9 screen and they didn't bother to make something specific to Neo Geo at all.
