It's not people arent giving Ninty a chance, they have just made the design change from 2 bars of soap sat on each other, to what looks like some sort of futuristic kayak.

Despite failing as a handheld, Nintendo got the idea from Atari to sell their moulds for the DS to another company and it was a huge success!

I do believe we've got something!

You know, there should be a sub-section on the ASSEMbler site dedicated to our mischief.
These pics are really something that should be memorialized (much like Side-Talkin).

The days of releasing a game machine and having it last 15 years are over. Doesn't matter how good the games are, technology is just advancing way too fast and consumers are just too damn picky. I know, it's sad to admit, becasue for us a three or four year life span means crappy games as most new systems are going to be abandoned right when the good stuff starts to come out- the second or third generation, when the programmers start to know what they're doing. Dreamcast was the first victim of this new shorter lifecycle. Now they plan the next machine before the new one is even out (PS3?)

On the DS: Oh, I don't think it looks so bad. Besides, there's bound to be oodles of color variaitions, special editions, etc. which are all going to be collectable, which is great news for madmen like us who have to have one of everything.

It's pretty obvious what's going to happen, DS will take the high market (the 18-35 crowd) while GB SP will de-evolve into a kiddy machine, with plenty of Barbie, Harry Potter, Shrek, and Olsen twins games being released for it before being phased out alltogether just in time for GameBoy 3 or whatever.

In the meantime Sony is aming for the Yuppie crowd, and they will fail, as people who have $300 to spend on a handheld will go with a nice high end PDA or pocket PC that can do more than a PSP, while the meat of thier market will be people like us, who have to save up for a few months to drop three bills on a "toy." i don't know about you guys, but I have rent to pay. Maybe I should go back to selling weed.

And so, if Nintendo's DS is priced $150 or cheaper it's going to sell like hotcakes, while Sony's machine will be the "Ooooh, Ahhhh" gadget you show your friends but only the rich kids can afford. Sony's sales start out slow but eventually pick up when the price drops, which by that time (2006-8) the GB 3 comes out and takes over the world, enslaving us all into the Matrix and sucking our body heat to serve Marioesque robot overlords...

Which one will I buy first? The DS, becasue if the past is any measure the PSP is going to have mucho malfunctions. My first PS1 was a buggy nightmare of thrown together hardware. There is no way I am ever going to get burned by Sony again, I am perfectly happy in wating a year or so for Sony to work the bugs out of the PSP so the one I eventually get doesn't melt down the first time I change the batteries.

    New one over old

I still like this new one over the old design. I thought the plastic on the proto looked like it was made of silver painted styrofoam (like the trays that come with meat)

    thx

    Thx.
Finaly, the new GB looks nice but i think that the dual screen is a real loose (they sould rather put a bigger screen than 2 little one).
