Yea, not enough great games yet, but there are some (Lumines, WipEout Pure, Mercury and a few others) but it is freaking GREAT for:

    • Emulators (GameBoy, NES, Atari 2600 all run full speed, and SNES and Genesis with an acceptable fps skip and eventually will get to full speed) and many many more
    • eBook Reader
    • Portable Web Browser
    • Media Player
    • Image Viewer
    • Homebrew games
    • Internet Radio
I guess it's not for everyone, but i'm finding many great uses for mine!

    Who says I don't have a DS?

Some people have jobs and don't have to let it all ride on one console / portable ;-)

As for a laptop, sure, I have one of those too. It however does not fit in my pocket very well....

I got DS for the innovative gameplay. I can't get that on a console.

PSP gameplay, that I can get on a console. I am not impressed or motivated
to play lesser portable versions of console games.

I am a grown man, I drive and generally have no free time to dedicate to minimal gaming in my hands, and am hard pressed for time for console gaming.

I could only see psp if I rode a train every day.

Yup, that's where I stand as well. I don't drive that much, though - but I get dizzy if I read on the bus. And Mexican buses are not precisely a place to play games comfortably, but they could be.

What do I do? I play at work. Like, in the summer, we didn't have much in terms of classes at school - so I was pretty much going to work to sit in the office and wait for phones to ring or people to ask about classes starting september - and they almost never did. So my laptop and Mame (Missile Command, Moon Patrol, et al.) were enough not to go insane. And some good books, of course.

Boy, did I wish I had a DS those days. That old laptop is heavy. Though a PSTwo + screen deal would fit in my briefcase. That would rock.

I do ride a train every day and my psp is still collecting dust. Emulation is the only real thing that is having me keep it but that will all change when the gpx2 comes out.

When I worked in London I had my own little office so I got my Psone and screen combo set up. Makes the lunch breaks fly by with little Panzer bandits, Angel tears or Nightstriker action!

I use my PSP for an easy multiplayer solution with stuff like coded arms and lumines. Again saves the hassle of finding multitaps or extra controllers. + I hooked most of my freinds up with jap psp a while ago so there are actually lots of times when we play.

But I have never once used it to play on the move - like the DS its just to fiddly to take out and use, when you have a carry case and stuff - try changing discs with no where to put it down! The exception is when I play on a flight and I watch a umd. However I rarely use it as a portable machine. Therefore I would have bugger all use for 4 gigs of space, when I have a laptop, Especially at a rather high price. This whole PSP homebrew scene just has a lot of novelty value, its like "got windows 95 running!" or some other pointless stuff, but when it comes down to it, there is not a lot of new gameplay or use to it. Most useful thing done is to get ripped versions of game loading on it, I know thats what the majority of my freinds do with their "homebrew" downloads. Still gives me someone to play with.... between telling them off!

Don't misunderstand me, I like my PSP and DS. I just don't find enough use for them as a portable machine. DS does new ideas and the PSP does internet and movies (as well as guilty gear!) but they just don't have a big place in my gaming diet.

The psps ok but its kind of a waste right now, I have a ds and I'm not that happy with it right now I think I am going to get a 20 gig Ipod its either that or a psp with a game and the ipod is looking pretty good to me. GPX2 seems like a nice buy but it won't be that big in the states so I probably won't be able to play with anyone.

I would love to get a DS if they re-coded Zelda OOT & Majoras Mask on it! Basically, if they re-released every Nintendo 64 title to be on the DS. :)

If I get it right now, the only game I would love on it would be Mario 64 DS.

I have been playing mario64 on my ds and to me even that game gets boring after a while. Also they didn't do anything innovative with the touch screen in it either, hopefully they will come out with some better games for the ds and hopefully they will come out with some tony hawk games for it.

Money, priorities, time, and lack of interest are whats holding me back from buying a PSP or a DS.

I have yet to see a title on any of the portables that convince me into buying the thing. In fact, I'm holding out on buying a Gamecube until the new Zelda game comes out. I plan on buying a 360 but only for a few games, but most of my money and time will be spent on my PC and on old games from the 16 bit and 32bit era more likely than on next gen games/hardware.

what we need is an affordable, small x86 based system, something along the lines of the psp, but running an actual honest to goodness os like say linux...then and only then would that outclass the psp/ds, think about, 800mhz processor, 256rma, 20gig hdd, linux, has a micro keyboard built in, all for 300.....that would be sweeeet.........

but if you've got the money, go for the 0Q0 Model 1...which is the same like i said above, except it costs several thousand.....:(
