Yeah it gets worse and worse every week with the rediculos theorys they come out with... they are so far up nintendo its not even funny anymore.
Shit, I probably qualify as a Revolution fanboy, but I'm still not going to support any poppycock-balderdash-bullshit theories that it projects VR imagery, comes bundled with a Princess Peach sex android, or bakes brownies. I mean, given that I know very little about it, would I still put down a paid-in-full preorder today and fight ninja pirate terminators on launch day to get my console? Yes I would, but that means that I have faith in the company, it doesn't mean that I'm a lunatic. Don't lump us all in with this guy, lol.
Well, it'd be cool if there was some funky thing with it like a simulated assimilated reality thing that lets you use your penis as a magic wand in zelda or something, but I think even if the surprise turns out to be that mario shaved his mustache or something the system will still be cool, the whole remote thing looks totally cool. I can't wait to run around in front of my tv like a dumbass!
Sounds cool, however I doubt we'd see Nintentdo use this technology without testing the commercial viability of it first. If there were to be a console released with this technolgy, chances are we'd problably see it in handheld form first, or as an add-on (like the CD players for the Sega genesis or PC engine.)
It comes down to the amount of memory they'd have to put in each unit. They want to keep it low mem and cheap.
I am hoping that the Revolution finally goes along with Nintendo's plan for the Tri-force arcade Machines . And A non HD desicion is based solely on price it has nothing to do with anything else , and it is not even for sure yet either .
Tachikoma, is that avatar of yours from the Yan san Japanese language training series? I use that at university.
It is the very same! I love those video's, the fact they are so cheesy, makes them more useful and enjoyable to watch. *on topic* I think I read here somewhere, the Revolution only has 9MB video RAM, so it physically can't do HDTV, unless they radically change the insides first. When is the TGS? March isn't it? I want them to show *something* just to shut up all this freaking speculation. I want to know how they plan on doing this supposedly fully submersive motion capture for the "wand" cheaply, and without you having to stick camera's all over your room.
read somewhere that 512 of ram is required as a minimum to support hidef games, and the total memory in the cube is 104mb?.....not sure on these facts, as for the 512 memory cards it uses, using one of them as a buffer for hi-def is also out of question, or so said ign
Ok new theory. I think the one I came up with to start this thread has been thoroughly debunked, although I still maintain that since the Revo. controller uses basic AR technology that something AR might be in the near future. Anyway, try this on for size. Miyamoto specifically said it had something more to do with the controller. It could be the functions of the home button, but that would be lame, so my new guess is a gyro-ball attachment that acts as a comfy analog stick. Could be that, could be a headset that you can talk into while playing online. Those sound boring, but who knows.
No offense, but these theories all sound like stories to me, yet they are still cool to dream about. I just hope the Revolution turns out to be what it's current name suggests...
so the revolution is going to be awful in the tech side for containing prices, right? And how think nintendo can go out with a lower price than 360? 360 price is astonishing to me... so if 360 = 299 revolution = ??? 120? or what?
people have said since the tech is so low, that the system could retail for 99 dollars, though selling it at this price would attrack more people thinking it's a toy than a game system, although the NES was marketed as a toy... To me nintendo will go for the magical 149, you'll get the system, controller and joystick, as well as the shell, the system will sell fast, as almost everyone will want to experience the revolution, sales will continue to be good for the first six months, 3rd party support however will be slim during this time, after about a year, revolution sales will slow some what, as north american 3rd parties pull some support from it, japanese support however will florusih.. i'm just rambling, but thats what might happen.. to me at least
marketing. I see it all as marketing. Nintendo did not market the cube at all. For every 5-10 commercials I saw for the ps2 and xbox (all aimed at boys), nintendo had 1 wimpy commercial with a couple of screenshots. I remember the Genesis sold well because of it's "SEGA!" campaign, and the tg-16 remained invisible because NEC never advertised. I am a school teacher and the kids are like little sponges to the media, and all they see with nintendo is that it's marketed towards them, but they don't want to be that (kids); they want to be hardcore mature gamers.
