Thanks for the welcome, I'm sure i'll be around quite a lot :)

Virtual Alan, Next-Gen has only ever been one store and web-based, we've been going for coming up to 8 years now and pretty proud of our reputation and of course we love games ;) Our store is in Farnborough, Hants.
The free listing will be for at least 2 or 3 weeks, possibly longer. We're not silly and we appreciate it is in our interest to attract as many new members and get them posting as many auctions as possible. We wouldn't suddenly drop the free listing until we're good and ready for our major public roll-out which is being backed by a pretty hefty PR campaign.
I will have a chat with Kron about getting an assembler banner up during our final beta stage. It's great to find a specialist forum like Assembler and I have no qualms in supporting it where possible. Once we go public we'd need to re-visit things but for the time being I dont see an issue :)
The auction site has already attracted 55,000 hits and over 800 visitors since launch last Thursday and that's without any PR, so I'm sure we can push some new visitors in this direction.
In the shop I do come across some gaming niceties and look forward to coming here to discuss anything exciting that shows up in the future.

Okay, I've started listing. I've got a couple of issues though.

1: It says that it's charged 1 GBP to my account for the listing fee (I assume this will be waved). The item I listed was for $34.99 USD. It looks to me that it's ignoring the currency. This would clearly fall in the 50p listing fee bracket, no?

Looks pretty nifty, I'll register and post some stuff.

Some advice, get a new logo. That "VGA" you've got up there screams Ebay ripoff.

I put some stuff up there. Two PSX games, a DC, and some in the "Classic" section. Should be pretty easy to find. The only Japanese stuff up there. :)

My constructive criticism: Things like your paypal registered ID, and maybe even shipping notes (on the last page of selling an item) should be something we can save in our profile. Very annoying to typ in 10 times, considering they'll almost always be the same.

thanks guys, we do appreciate you giving it a go and of course your comments :)
All fees applied will be waived so no worries there. You are right about the currency issue and charging, we're now looking at that and will get it resolved.

The logo, we spent some time researching potential issues and felt we had nothing to be concerned about. We chose VGA as aside from it being short for videogameauctions, it also fell nicely into the gaming portfolio (VGA monitors, VGA out from consoles etc) and the colour scheme was another natural choice being Red, Green and Blue, RGB. There was no intention to try and have something that looked along the lines of Ebay, it just happened.

With regard to things like paypal ID, if you go to the paypal box when choosing direct payment and press down on keyboard it will show whatever you have previously put in that box so should be a simple, down press and enter. I just tried it again to make sure it happens and it does.
I'm not sure about shipping details, it isn't something we have got to just yet but having these comments gives us stuff to put on our 'to look at' list.

We will have a VGA specific forum going live fairly soon where we will keep members informed of WIP and updates on a regular basis as well as have feedback areas for members to discuss their opinions.

I really dont want the board admin (or members) here to think that we're using your forum as a test bed and discussion forum. I have to say from the various forums where VGA has started to surface as a topic of discussion, this is definately where the most mature and positive feedback and comments have come from and for that I'd like to thank you :)

I found it pretty easy to use, the listing process was logical and laid out well. Good job.

My thing about the logo is, well, it's just very similar to the Ebay logo. Like it's even the same font. Which of course is fine with me, just thinking that you might have some either legal issuses or that might confuse people into thinking you're affiliated with Ebay in some way. But I'm sure you guys researched this adequately.

As I said on DCEmu, I think this is a good idea definately. I registered. I'll help it out, hopefully this will get off the ground. Would be a great thing to cut into evilBay's market share.

Once you get bigger, would it be possible to add more seller friendly tools a la Turbo Lister?

You don't have any auctions running, Edit its marked as deleted so I guess you removed it.

Did it list an error when you tried to upload a picture? I've just tried uploading a picture to your closed auction through the normal way and its displaying it fine.

Can you let me know what the file size and picture format type it was please.

I hope you guys dont mind me giving a quick update on VGA.

Since our public roll out this week, driven by Press Releases all over the web, we have attracted over 300,000 page views from over 12,000 visits.
VGA is the talk of many forums at the moment and for those that have supported the project since beta stage, we'd like to thank you.

Some pretty exciting items are starting to show up, which is great news, and many are getting plenty of views. Items are selling on a regular basis and feedback is starting to grow.

We have plenty more Press activity over the coming weeks and we're confident the membership will grow as will the range of products.

I dont want this to be seen as spam, just that you guys showed a nice amount of interest without dissing from day one, a rarity in this day and age :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
