Depends what is meant by future, and worth I suppose. Is any future better than no future. I think people should be applauded for effort though, and to be fair the games from the last few years aren't that bad at all. Better than some official games for sure.
for sure, and there' are actually pretty good examples. But to be honest in the neo scene, all i could see till the most recent release (Gunlord, which is a good path to walk for the "future") is just milking When a decent game hit the market a the right price it's not a problem i agree applauding the effort (even better if you are honest with yourself and release the game for , well, NGCD) but when a pile of crap comes in for an awful amount of money, there's nothing which can be called homebrew scene ask Dion about teh rare release of Diggerman é___é look at the Treasure of Caribbean thing or Fast Striker (which is disgunting, imho)
[BUMPING OLD THREAD] For anyone, who hasn't seen it yet, racketboy put up an interesting interview with Dion on his site: racketboy.com
Hey Dion, I was going through some old threads on NG and came across this quote: Funny how things change, eh? Especially you calling Geddon and Billy honest people back then! Ah well, it WAS nearly 10 years ago! Neo Geo games ARE bricks!
Wheelaa and I may not see eye to eye on other issues, but both him and I do agree that homebrew efforts should be applauded, if they so deserve it. Diggerman and Treasure of the Caribbean = early jamma board games Some people still wonder about the origins of both the Diggerman and TotC. Diggerman was an unfinished game from Face, much the same as Treasure of the Caribbean was unfinished. Both were based on early Face jamma board programming. Diggerman is basically a copy of Boulder Dash (which has many clones): Rockfall, Rockford the Invincible, Rocks and Diamonds, Dangerous Dungeons, Diamond Caves, Diamond Dash, Get the Gems, etc.... Various videos Boulder Dash - various systems: http://www.youtube.com/channel/HCS5x-cBZuTX4 Diggerman: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKojvfhBo5s Get the Gems: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsvV0MhBLh8&feature=relmfu Dangerous Dungeons: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XemLkl1D2rE Rocks and Diamonds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ns3ECGO8bOs&feature=related Diggerman is an official game listed by SNK-Japan, SNK-Playmore, and US Federal Court. Face had agreements and planned to port and release Diggerman and Zupapa onto the NeoGeo system. SNK-Japan sold us exclusive rights for Diggerman AES sales with the NGF corrected insert. Playmore Press Release stating games sold by SNK-Japan to NeoGeoFreak and authorized for sale with corrected inserts (lists all Face games: Diggerman, Gururin, Money Puzzle Exchanger, Zupapa) official Face NeoGeo titles: Diggerman, (1989 jamma, 1994 neogeo port) - finally released in 2001) Gururin, 1994 Money Puzzle Exchanger, 1996 Zupapa, 1994 - (finally released in 2001) Diggerman As far as I know, Treasure of the Caribbean was never planned as a neogeo game. It was only planned and scheduled for non neogeo jamma board release. **FOUND PHOTO: circa 1998: page 16, post #319 I found the old photo of former SNK-America president and myself during Irritating Maze: NGF release 1998: page 16, post #319
After reading a bit of this thread, I feel jealous I have absolutely no business acumen, especially in regard to something I enjoy (video games). I can't even afford a used AES at the moment (hey i'm saving up!), how can people get $90k to buy games XD. Must've been one hell of a business plan!
Even if you don´t have 90 on your pockets, I´m sure many banks would agree to give such a loan for a business if you can convince them you are likely to make at least hundreds of thousands if not millions.
I also have a question. Did you beat Magician Lord the AES version? And why wasn't there a Magician Lord 2? This game is so fucking amazing!
Yeah, it was somewhat. @Juul - I've removed your avatar. This isn't NG - act like an adult and choose something that's not offensive. http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/mature-content-rules.33451/
