Niece arrested for Craigslist house hoax

I had never heard of Craigslist before, but it seems to be a rather popular means of buying / selling / trading in USA. However, this following story kind of made me sit up. Dated 17th May 2007, so I assume most American's will have seen it but wow! What a hoax!

A Tacoma (USA) woman just on the verge of going on holiday for a fortnight had evicted a relative from a rental property she owned in the city. Before she could calm things down or make amends, she left for her calming vacation.

Whilst away, her relative was clearly still fuming and came up with an idea to get her own back.

Thus, an advert was placed on Craigslist:

“Moving out … House being demolished. Come and take whatever you want, nothing is off limits. XX East 64th Street, Tacoma.”

Well, you can pretty much imagine what happened. Neighbours were stunned to see cars, pick-up trucks, lorries and the like turning up and like a swarm of locusts, the house was reduced to a shell within a matter of days.

On her return the owner was utterly beside herself as she surveyed the ruins of her home. Apparently the house was so extensively plundered that even the internal doors and windows were removed.

Long story short, it turned out to have allegedly been her 28yr old niece who placed the ad as she was annoyed at the way her Mum had been evicted from the property.

It might be prudent to ensure you never evict anyone from your beloved property (or piss off a relative).

I use Craigslist for personal ads and always get scum replies from unsastified couples and gay guys that can't read (I always say WOMEN ONLY)

So yeah......Craigslist is pretty shady.

 

You are probably forgetting, that Craigslist is notorious, for being a gay/bi guys hangout. And of course scum who does that kind of scam. The niece did. Or am I wrong in my assumption ? Please correct me if I am.

I have a friend at work that's always searching through the She-male shit at Craigslist, sending the "best" (actually worst) ones of the day. Some scary shit over there.

 

Perhaps he is into ugly MtF transsexuals ? or is he just doing it for kicks and pranks ?

 

im not normally phased by anything, but have just been browsing craiglist for my area (purely out of curiosity,never heard of it before) and some of the stuff in there is f*kin disgusting! definatly an eye-opener to what goes on behind clsed doors!

 

I work with people with twisted senses of humor. The Craig's List stuff is actually pretty tame. I Lemon Partied my boss a few weeks ago, I'll put it that way.

 

Soon as they drop me a line they get chewed out. If only dating sites were free.......but that's another topic all together.

lol damn, around here. There are at least two free dating sites of what I know off. And I use neither.

The two I was thinking off, are netdating.dk and dating.dk

one of my mates has used them. I just stay the hell away from them.

But anyway, it works for some.

 

Some even say "if you don't meet any one you get 6 months free"

There was one site promising Japanese hook ups it was free to join but to contact anyone.....MONEY.

it's some Grade A bullshit. Especally when like me it's pretty hard to find anyone through conventional means.

 

Yes craigslist is full of idiots,but it depends how you use it I guess.I only use it to sell things locally,and still you get some scammers trying to email you and such,its pathetic.And I would never do the dating sites on there,or anywhere on the net,its so much easier to meet someone the old fashioned way.

 

I read about this before. Cracked me up but if it has happened to someone, it can happen to you.
