Don't forget that the PS2 has an internal clock too, so the same kind of "treats" can be included in the port. In terms of excitement over a sequel vs. remake, you guys are putting a huge amount of faith in Sega.
This isn't new, in the least. In fact, I'm usually the sarcastic one about people getting all worked up over really fucking old games (Virtual Console anyone?). This one, I'm kind of looking forward to. It's possible the extras will be nice, and if they put in some good analogue control I'll enjoy it.
I'm not at all interested because I've played the original NiGHTS and Christmas NiGHTS to death over 10 years ago. The same game with fancy graphics just doesn't excite me I'm afraid. That’s why I'm more in to the new Wii game. Sure, it's got crap in it that shouldn't be there but at least it's got new worlds etc to see. IF the PS2 version has some bonus contents that the Saturn games didn't have then just maybe I'll be interested. Yakumo
I'd only be truly interested if there were bonus features outside the usual artwork/video box, such as new interviews with Naka or Ohshima (yeah, right!) and perhaps even the complete versus mode that was - allegedly - removed from the final Saturn version at the very last minute. Even though it carries the NiGHTS brand name, as a fanboy I'm hating myself for this but I can't help being a little concerned. After all, doesn't this seem to anyone else like a slightly more elaborated entry in the AGES 2500 series? Come to think of it, there's a third party motion sensing controller for the PS2 now, yes? Add support for that and throw in whatever remains of the gyroscopically-controlled AIR NiGHTS prototype and I might reconsider my stance. However, for the moment I'm still not entirely sold on the whole idea...
All this is is Segammy whoring out Sega's past for a quick buck like they have been doing since Sammy took over. Sammy straight up killed Sega.
The Sega Saturn and Sega Dreamcast still exist. History has not been rewritten. In so far as "currently alive" systems, I'd say the Wii for the VC.
creativity set aside... You do realize that they didn't get into the black until they started whoring, right? It was Sega's "fresh" ideas for games and franchises that killed them. Don't blame Sammy... blame the dipshit gaming public. And it's the only system since last gen to have a library geared towards fans of old and new. The DC had Dream Library (and that's about it). GC... hah. Xbox... hah. Wii has Virtual Console, but I'm not out of the closet on that whole Wiimote thing. That, and no RGB output for the NTSC-U or NTSC-J (while having it for PAL) models is an instant fail IMHO.
IGN weren't paid enough that's why  True, I do prefear the original much more than the new Wii game but it's not as bad as IGN say. Yakumo
True, and if the Wii keeps selling like this, the next generation is going to be just a bunch of obsolete (and pricey) consoles with gimmicky controllers... Honestly I wasnt expecting any great scores, but 6? Maybe the lack of Nights ads on the frontpage have something to do with that... After all IGN is owned by NewsCorp (FOX)
