There are a bunch of games that I enjoy playing on my Nintendo 3ds. It got me thinking if it would be at all possible to somehow output a video signal to a scaler or line doubler and output that to a CRT tv or modern hdtv.
I've seen this mod service from Japan but it looks expensive. Has anybody seen other options?

Even though the 3ds xl outputs a low resolution at 800x240, is that still considered a widescreen format?

Some HDMI outputs were prototyped, but all of the commercial solutions I've seen require a USB connection to a pc

Outside of those physical capture cards, you can modify a New 3DS (and probably New 2DS) to run NTR Custom Firmware which allows for streaming the output to your PC. Maybe come up with a solution to then output that image to another screen to your liking? That's at least the only other method I know of which isn't physical or super costly.

Sadly that doesnt get you the full frame rate. Someone actually made an app that can be used on the Xbox One (and Windows PCs too of course) that streams from the custom firmware, which is neat.
