http://kotaku.com/5499697/nintendo-announces-new-hardware-the-nintendo-3ds I can't think of any way of commenting on this for now since there's little in the way of specs. Portable 3D though.. if they can make things appear bumpy on my little screen I m all for it.
Well they already have large tvs for this. I would assume you have to wear gay glasses to see the 3d.
I'm fucking tired of kotaku: somehow they managed to become the only gaming blog I cant stand reading... Anyway, this announcement is nothing new ('cept for the name) since there's already eye-tracking 3D on the DSi and knowing nintendo you can bet they're going to add that to the next DS. I just want the next DS to be at least twice as powerful than the PSP, and not like the original which was a GBA with a ARM9 and barebones 3D
nor did you need to wear glasses on the virtual boy, you had to look in to them who knows we didn't see the design yet.
I think they learned their lesson with the VB to be fair I imagine that the 3D that they mention is with a use of a special two-film screen, sort of holographic in between etc. Nothing like the "in your face" 3D you see in cinemas. You read it here first;p
Eye-tracking dude, its the most inexpensive way to do it, and the best one too Now that processing power is dirt-cheap, those hardware solutions are no longer needed.
who knows, maybe both. I am yet to be convinced by eye-tracing, give me a solid demo link or something.
As someone who's unable to do "Magic Eye" or use 3D goggles or any of that stuff, I just want to say: BAHHHHHHHHHHHH
Whilst i find the idea of the next DS doing 3D quite appealing i'd rather have an idea of the basic capabilities of the machine since i do love my DS-Lite but find it lacking in terms of hardware/graphics compared to the PSP and would love to see that the DS 2 will have more powerful hardware before hearing about it having 3D screens etc... If it can be much better than the original DS and PSP then i'll gladly love to see 3D on it and what it'll be like but if its not that much better than the original DS or PSP then to me the 3D will be like a gimmicky extra.
Kotaku bullshit aside, here's the Official Press Release (English version) http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/pdf/2010/100323e.pdf
And they can't add this extra hardware into a cart? Can't this stuff be done with a simple accelerometer (or... the camera, if really necessary?), some clever programming, and maybe a 'reset'/'calibrate' function in easy reach? Your mom pulled a Sega, and you're the 32x. :thumbsup:OH-HOH!
Well I already knew a DS2 was coming soon. I'm currious to see what they do for 3d effect but ultimately I'm a little worried this system won't be overly powerful (so it can stay backwards compatible with DS). Probably somewhere between a PSP & iPhone 3GS. Which really isn't that ground breaking. Oh god e3 will be fun. Expect a few bombshells from sony. ;-) Trust me. The DSiware game does not work all that well. It's not really doing proper head tracking. It's doing a really cheap method (most likely for speed) that results in it not working all that well. I have it on my DSi.
