I would like to ask, do any of you have some really good solid concrete information and pictures on the nintendo 64 dd and the nintendo playstation. thanks this site is truely the best
and there's transparent black N64 that goes with 64DD as well... don't expect much change out of $550-600 for the basic setup...
here's some threads we had about the famous snes cd prototype a while ago. If you search trough them, i'm sure you'll find intersting pictures and informations about prototypes, specualtions, rumors and history (of video game (of course)). http://assemblergames.com./forums/s...&highlight=snes http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5156 cahaz
The transparent black N64 was released here in the 'states as just another model in the line of translucent colored releases. While it is one of the more rare North America system models, it's a lot cheaper and easier to stumble across than an authentic Randnet unit. As long as you don't tell anyone, it'll look like you have an authentic Randnet N64 and nobody will know the difference.
I've never seen those two pictures before, that's super cool. I like the final Playstation a lot better, but that Nintendo unit is a slick looking piece of hardware!
Aye, i have a clear black N64. there was actually one down at gamestop last time i was there, almost bought it.
According to 64DD.net, Zelda DD was complete. Wonder if any DD disks were ever manufactured? I'd love to see the price one would fetch.
Miyamoto indeed told in an interview that zelda DD was complete and in ''waiting''. No DD disks containing Zelda DD where manufactured though. Alot of people think the version of Zelda DD we had (called Master quest and released as a Bonus dvd at the release of the wind waker) wasn't the original concept of miyato, not even the complete version miyamoto was talking about in a past interview, since alot of the ideas of his creator weren't included in the released version, and it was more like an alteration (or a second quest, if you remember what hapens at the end of the first zelda) than an expansion, and nothing was added, but changed. cahaz.
My understanding was always that Ura Zelda was going to actually use the re-writable fnction of the DD discs in some way similar to the F-Zero X Expansion disc did. The Master Quest ROM from the Gamecube disc is actually playable on an N64 with a backup device, by the way. The DD software that I really miss the most are the Mario Artist Game Studio and Sound Studio discs. In my opinion, this area is where the 64DD really could have been revolutionary. DreamStudio on the Dreamcast is so cool, but think how much cooler it could have been if you were able to make all your own graphics and sounds using the other Mario Artist titles. This would have kicked ass over all sorts of genres, from adventure, to fighters, to racers, to shooters and so on. The massive storage space plus the ability to move things created with one 64DD program over to another could have been really cool if more stuff had supported it. Hell, just imagine if F-Zero X Expansion had been cross-compatible with Polygon Studio and Paint Studio allowing you to add your own new car models and backdrops as well as new tracks. And then if the 64DD had caught on, you could trade your stuff online with the Communication Kit. Could have been pretty cool and interest in it certainly would have well outlived the N64 itself. ...word is bondage...
There was apparently a Dezaemon in the works for the 64DD, and I'm not entirely sure but I thought I saw somewhere that it would be able to import from the Mario Artist Polygon Studio, and one of the other Mario Artist discs that I can't remember. And yes, Ura Zelda was supposed to use the rewritable function of the DD discs to create a persistant world, from what I remember reading about it way back when. The example Miyamoto gave was signs - if you run around slashing apart all the signs in the world, then you're screwed if you need to read one to get anyways, and it was in this manner that he wanted to make players think about their actions in-game.
Dezaemon DD, yeah, it was going to be like a "First Person Shooter Construction Kit" O_O I remember reading about it in a german magazine.
Not first person shooter like Quake, 3D shooter like Star Fox. Dezaemon DD ended up coming out as a cartridge (Dezaemon 64). Even on cartridge it has pretty good editablility, but being able to interface with Polygon Studio would have been cool. Dezaemon is one of the coolest series there is. I've never played the Playstation ones that are supposed to be the best, but on the SNES, Saturn and even the Famicom, it's a pretty cool game. Dezaemon 64 is 3D as you say, which would go without saying on the N64, I guess, but the 2D ones are really way cooler. ...word is bondage...
Dezaemon works with the 64DD. If you plug your cart in and you have your 64DD connected when it boots up it asks you to insert a disk. They were probably going to release expansion paks but it never happened.
