Looks like Nintendo's trying to draw in the indie developers.

    https://developer.nintendo.com/

You can register as an individual and provide just your name, address, and email. Registration is completed instantly, you just follow the links in your email and agree to the NDA. You then you have access to the complete 3DS and Wii U SDKs and tools, and the ability to purchase development hardware.

Surprising! They should have announced this at E3.

Someone post the horrible terms of use.

Pokemongo will be seen as the start of the end for Nintendo, btw.

How do they expect an individual to make a game substantial enough to commercially sell?
Without artists, musicians, and all, anybody like me is hosed.

I honestly think this never had to happen, Nintendo is literally ruining themselves by allowing even toddlers to gain access...
That way, the NX will even lose all the Third Party Support, and will get crappy garage games in return.

it's just an easier way to publish games made in unity, remeber that Xbox live indi dev program (forgot the name) back when the 360 was the hot potato?

    Important
While Nintendo is reducing barriers for development by supporting multiplatform based development tools (Unity, HTML5, etc.), you will not be able to release a game if you haven't been developing with an official development kit. Please go to Getting Started for more information about ordering Development Tools.

Also, please be sure to always use the email address you are registered here with when contacting Nintendo.

Some information and points of contact will be different based on the region you are planning to release your game in. Below and in the Publish section you will find information about Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe.

To release your game on Nintendo eShop in Japan and Asia you will need to either have a local office in Japan which can provide customer support, or release it through a local publisher authorized by Nintendo Co., Ltd.

Well I think this is a terrible idea and basically destroys the massive effort they have put in over the years to control the quality of games. Will be interesting to see what come of it though.

Just because some indie Dev makes a crappy wiiu/3ds game using this doesn't mean that Nintendo is forced to put it on their eshop.

    This.

This is no different than when Microsoft did their XNA program. Sure, anyone can be a dev and make what they want, but actually publishing your game on the eshop is a whole different story.

Xbox did have their little indie game section with a bunch of really bad games (some games were really fun though) but they were all sub $5 if I remember correctly.

Do you realize you signed a legally binding NDA and you just broke it?

At least there is a much larger aftermarket for current Nintendo hardware now. I'm not doing anything with mine right now :D

Wrong, unlike Microsoft and Sony, Nintendo does not require a concept approval.
As long as your game doesn't crack during Lot Check, and as long as the provided eManual is okay enough, everything can be released on Nintendo Consoles.

The ps4 dev kit is quite a bit cheaper than the 3ds and Wii U dev kits and as far as I know Xbox one development can be done with retail consoles. I don't think many people will waste their time making crappy games for 3ds and wii u when they have to make such a hefty investment.
