http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/news/060126.html Still looks damn ugly inside... or maybe its just the shadow around the screen..
Wow you only made this post 2 min before the other guy, thought I was seeing double there for a minute. Can't believe how similar your posts actually are. Back on the topic of the DS, I don't think that it looks too bad but damm, that would be very hard to keep clean I think. If you played it a lot it might go grey. I'm not really a DS fan but overall I think it is a step in the right direction for Nintendo.
Nice! That'll be one for the collection. Then I can finally do 2 player locally! Convenient that it will probably be coming out the same time as tetris DS...I can just see my parents nicking both my DS's so they can play tetris, like they did way back with the NES and tetris!
Lite, SP, meh what's the difference. Now when the GBA2 or whatever it is finally comes out, don't go buy it. Wait for the inevitable GBA2SPlite special edition.
Only about as limited as that damn platinum gamecube... grumble... I'll probably pick one up, glad i waited. At the very least, i'll be able to pick one of the older models up cheep on fleebay EDIT: I wonder where the stilus goes, it's bigger than the unit is tall. It must go in the other way now.
Did they say something about the screens sizes? I mean, are they bigger or smaller than the current ones? The ipodish finish does look classy, but also a scratch magnet... PS: and what about GBA compatibility? cuz maybe they removed the slot for the space...
I like the redesign, except for where the Start and Select buttons are. That looks to be a fairly awkward and inaccessable place that I'd probably more often than not hit with the lower part of my thumb. I like my platinum DS, and don't really feel any reason to snag a DS lite, but that could change. Like if they release a Famicom-colored one!
They have said three colours - so maybe white, black and silver. I'm in for a black especially if it has this shiny finish (gonna need a good case) Oh and it is a yes to GBA functions. I do like this trend of updating hardware, it is not to get us to buy another one but to keep the product competitive. I much prefer the slimline ps2 to the fat and the gba sp to the gba. You don't have to buy both - it is just about updating the product as it become possible to do so. I will be glad to update and I do want to see how slim it actually is.
Well, the last game I played with hdd support was probably star ocean 3 directors cut. As support for the hdd dropped off I updated to the slimline, I think it looks pretty damn good. I will dig out one of my hdd machines if I want to replay some other older games, I actually have vampire chronicles here - but don't use the hdd as loading times are not that bad anyway.
....Im kinda pissed seeing as I was waiting to see if the announcment was Bullshit...I bought a DS like 1 week ago. Damnit, Brighter screen was my biggest complaint!
Programmingace, they could have just miniturised (that spelling doesnt look right..) the stylus I'm most curious as to where the bloody power button is!
I doubt many people want HDD's on their ps2's for the games supported by it. I have one just to use with HDLoader, which lets me take my ps2 on trips and not have to worry about bringing any games.
Indeed - as I don't use a hdloader or anything like that I was saying that the lack of a hdd on the slimline ones does not really effect me at all. Hence why I can safely prefer the slimline version! BTW I just drew the new size in comparison with the old one and it does look quite a bit smaller. I do hope it is not as flimsy as say the nano. Personally I think it makes a big difference just having both halfs of the machine the same size, so the top doesn't look stuck on like the original ds. Nice design work imho.
they wont change the screen size for the simple and good reason that each screens needs to be of the same size, and that if you rezize the touch screen, gameplay will be different depending of your DS version. I was waiting for that one. DS, here i come (finally!) ! am i the only one that sees the new style nintendo want to give? just look at the micro, at the lite and at the revo, they all have the same style, the same direction cross with the same lines over them, and the same type of police for the letters on the buttons. You can say that the old DS was the last "old school" design of nintendo.
Let's just wait to see if it's still compatible with GBA games. If it is, then I'm likely to get that one instead. Good thing I never had enough money to buy the first one. But... thinking clearly, this is likely to make the first version cheaper, right? I sure hope so. I like it. Looks cool.
