    Hey everyone
I have considered investing in a Nintendo iQue console for some time now but info on the darn thing is quite hard to find.
First of all I would like to ask if anyone can tell me how to get new games on the thing if you don't live in China and can find a place to download them?
Secondly, are there any mods, hacks or flashcart for the thing?

It's an intersting console but I can't really justify spending money on it since I'm not sure if I can even use the thing to play anything that didn't come with it.

Hope somebody can shed som light on this subject for me.

The client software you use to put new ROMs on the unit is out there, in versions with and without the actual ROMs included (in encrypted form), so at least in theory it should be possible to switch out the games. If/How you can get it to actually *work* is a different question - I've no idea how the payments if/were handled, if the authentication servers are still up, if you need any cables beyond those that come with the unit, etc etc...

The payments are handled by purchasing cards that have special codes on them. If you think the iQue is hard to find, the cards are even harder.

I bought mine off taobao last time I was in China and told the lady I bought it from to load it with a couple games for me. Outside China it's a practical impossibility to get the cards to load new games.

The security on the system is rather good. There's a PKI that extends from the manufacturer to the silicon of the device, and the cards are actually keys in the PKI. In other words, it's not a simple matter of decrypting the games and flashing them.

Nintendo made it hard for piracy on this gadget.

Won't be long though until the copyright licence runs out on the N64, so i'm sure then there will be multiple Chinese rip-offs available to buy.

I'd have to say iQue's are fairly easy to find if your Chinese, as most local people don't really care about them. I never bothered selling these devices since they take up so much shipping room, and the amount of demand would be questionable. I mean, how much could you sell a console for anyways? Probably not very much to make it worth your time.

Hmm.. I guess the only practical way to acctually get an iQue would be to actually order every single game along with the console.. Otherwise I will never get any new ones.
That does however triple the price for what the console alone would cost :/

Yep, I've seen them around. But that doesn't mean it comes with a lot of games. Usually a handfull of demos, and 1 or 2 paid games. That's about it. Most owners don't care to get any more. Especially when a real n64 is just an import away.

Not really a good idea. Zero original games, zero third party support. All the iQue got was Nintendo games translated to Chinese you likely don't read.

I recommend USA n64. Then remove or cut its Japan game blocker. Widest possible library relative to cost, n64 had few pal exclusives either.

When the Chinese make clones, i'm sure they will work for original game carts, and they'll then have to make them for PAL and also NTSC regions. That is when it may be interesting.

Does anyone here know where I can find the "iQue@Home-complete.rar 205Meg" file? The official site doesn't seem to offer it anymore and I have been looking all over the internet for it, but all the sites I've visited just links to the 404 page.

Sorry, I wasn't aware Rapidshare sets files to private by default. Should be working now.

Thank you so much. I have really been searching for this the whole day without any luck.

Why is that file so big anyways?

No idea. I don't really know much about the iQue, just managed to find the file with a quick search :p I did install it to check it was legitimate, and it seemed to be, though it being in Chinese I had no idea how to work it.

I wonder if the iQue download service even works anymore.

I read some rumors that the reason the file is 205MB is cause it actually contains every game released for the iQue, "downloading them" is simply an unlock key.

That would be only 3 512mbit games and change... how many games were released?
