I'm quietly confident that the N64 will get a clone made from China, for the masses; on the basis that the N64 is more popular than the majority of retro consoles still, so there would be a market for a cheap small clone device. If one gets made, it would be good for the modding community too of course, as there probably will be no need for cooling the chips and also of course, a much smaller board. After all, the iQue doesn't need cooling, and is much smaller than an N64 console; so it is technically possible.

We can dream of course! Let's hope if they do make a clone that it works properly, which probably won't happen, as the Chinese clones aren't even proper alternatives to NES or SNES or GBA, let alone more powerful systems like n64.

I just secured myself an iQue console and some games for it, but it'll be a loooong while until I get my hands on it (in August), so I was wondering... how exactly does this thing even work? Do I just plug in the AV cable, the cartridge, and play the game? I bought a couple of games with it that come on cartridges, but after reading all sorts of stuff about USB cables and online cards, I'm not sure how it works anymore. I'd enjoy playing some games from my childhood in Chinese translated versions for sure!

Does anybody know where I can find the ROM for the ique version of Animal Forest? I'd be very interested in playing this game in Chinese..

Roms are not dumped. The encryption was never broken and because of this, no Emulators. IQUE Roms are re-engineered anyways, i doubt they will fully function on a normal N64 Emulator.

As for the servers, yes, they are still up. A connection however, well, It depends on your location. Chinese internet is Terrible and the programming of the IQue at home software, unlike the console, is not quality. very bootleg. Connecting is a bish and will most likely never Happen if you live in the USA or a "lower" location. You'd need to be either in china, korea or Japan to connect. One bloke in Australia got lucky and connected once, but never again.

So in total, yeah, you can connect, but you need to get close. Yes, you can download games still.

The File size is very big because all the encrypted roms are included. It's not just Fugu online and Library manager. The store is packing with it, however, to prevent piracy, they made the store still use servers instead of just allowing you to purchase offline.

    In reply to Lum:

Sure, an American N64 is the best. you can play a whole range of titles and it even works with the 64DD, which is an addon i play daily. But, the IQUE had it's times. IQue games are rarely logged thus far. Aside from zelda speed running and my 14 game show case stream on youtube, there are not "modern" footage of all the games. Being so, this makes the console Obscure, and since is has manuals to collect and other nifty packages, it brings a rare and asthetically pleasing vibe to the table. It's a collectors item and a good one at that. The Swimbox was going to be big. It would allow for online Multiplayer, 4 player lobbys if you will. Alas, fugu online never took off. The closest thing to online for the normal 64 was randnet and that was japan only. sure, you can get a newsletter, play demos and share mario artist stuff with your friends, but you could not play online with each other in a physical game. The is where IQUE Really gets interesting because essentially, more effort was put into it's purpose than the overseas normal 64s. This is why owning an IQUE is great. Little now history and Preservation. Games are, again, unlogged for the most part so, It's a treat to play them.

Two years, nice necropost. But putting that aside (since you mentioned the connection issues and geographical proximity, which is - at least to me - news, which makes it OK in my book) - what do you mean by games being "logged"? Documented, recorded on youtube?
