The sensor bar is infra-red. I haven't heard of halogen lights interfering with TV remotes so I doubt they'd have an effect on the Wii sensor bar. Does anyone have halogen lamps for main lighting anyway? I thought they were only for desk lamps and such. Most people have incandescent bulb/fluorescent lamp room lighting.
speaking just of the monetary aspect, then 300/400 for xbox360 is a FAR better bargain than a wii..... as always, games will chose everything....
$200-250 is a fair price in my opinion. I mean, thats like half of the cost of a 360 and... like... one payment on a PS3 or something. I'm interested in seeing some more games though, since as of right now, I'm not really highly anticipating anything announced for the Wii.
Well... I was saying if the Wii was in the range of $200-250. If the Wii costs $200-230 it would be around half the price of the 360+tax.
So, will Nintendo decide to include the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo with the console for old times sake?
Well, I wouldn't rule out the possibility of them including some sort of game/tech-demo to explain and ease the player into the new controls.
I think he meant if you compare them solely on the tech specs, then the Wii is more expensive since as most people say is an overhauled gamecube with a new control system, while the X360 is a big leap over the Xbox.
yes. you just get a slightly updated processor, but no HD, no new media... just a new way of controlling games, that CAN be interesting in certaing kind of games, or just annoying or unusable in others... they could have come out with a really lower price with not even a little effort... i'm really curious to see how many of the new games will use to the fullest the new controller, for it seems that only ninty-related companyes got devkits allowing them to use the "remote" (unless things changed altely)... i fear we'll see another ninty console whose only gems will be from nintendo again... i wish for it great 3rd party support.....
Indeed, they could sell it for $149 and create a tidal wave in the market, but no, they thought "hey! all those fanboys that still buy our shit are locos for our new stuff! lets overcharge it!" Yeah it sounds silly but then again, we're talking about nintendo, the company that mantained the über-outdated gameboy for almost 12 years, and made 3 completely different types of GBA (and god knows how many of those limited editions) Cant agree more, the DS I dont like it that much, and honestly I'm kinda tired all of those "OMG!" posts about the games. They arent that great anyways, the problem is that the only rival is the PSP and the line-up in that one is abysmal, too lame in comparision. So the DS looks good by contrast. Honestly the only non-ninty games for DS I'm looking foward to are SonicRush and emergy operation i-cant-remember-the-full-name-of-that-game...
I don't necessarily think that the X360 is really that much of a quantum leap over the Xbox. At best, the difference between the two seems like a year or two's worth of difference in cutting-edge PC game graphics, which certainly doesn't seem like justification for a new console to me. Not that I won't buy one, it's a nice piece of hardware with cool features and it'll have some great games made for it, but it isn't like it was some great innovation.
I'm talking about hardware differences, the X360 is a completely different beast than the Xbox. I think the only think they share is that both use DVDs.
The Xbox 360 is a good jump up from the really aged Xbox. And honestly I don't think it costs all that much, though it's definitely the most I've ever spent on a console. But I'm enjoying it. The PS3 would cost a whole 100$ or 200$ more. 300$ more if you compared the core 360 and good ps3. Then you have to account for tax, accessories, games, extended warrenty. That means you'd probably spend like 800$.
Well, thus far they've only been using 1 of the processors. I think Moto GP 2006 is the first game to utilize all 3, and that game is gorgeous (if a pain in the ass to play). I dunno, the 360 is still a bit early in its life to really judge its graphical capabilities. I think in time it'll get to a point where its a "leap" above the Xbox. Hell, Lost Planet and Gears of War already almost look like a nice little jump in graphical content.
