What I remember reading back then is that Nintendo wasn't sued because they had developed their own technology for the rumble feature. Microsoft settled early, then bought the rumble company that sued them, then "together" they sued sony. Which is why the PS3 boomerang controller was going to be used, as it didn't interfere with the rumble company's patent. Sony settled, agreed to a licensing fee and released the DS3 (eventually) instead of the boomerang. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that is how it went.

I don't know about MS owning the Immersion brand.

I do know that my logitech G25 has the Immersion logo on it and that nintendo has their own rumble system, using a single rumble motor in the spirit of the n64 rumble-pak.

The DS and XBOX controllers have dual motors and that's the main difference i can think of really.

Furthermore, the Boomerang controller was left out because they felt it was too radical a departure from the iconic DS controller that the fans and public have gotten used to over the years. Kind of makes sense, considering that they use the silhouette of the controller as a logo in their XMB on the PSP and the PS3 etc.

Well that's pretty financially stupid! Just get a NES and a copy of the game :banghead:

As for the controller - why?!? The classic controller was fine. It's not like anything is going to need this. And you can't play N64 games on a PlayStation-esqe pad. That's just wrong.
