I don't think that would ever become an issue. A person who buys porn won't notice a difference between standard and high definition.
It is a big issue for Sony. This was an absolutely retarded move in my opinion. Like it or not, porn is a huge industry, and it will likely have an impact on the format and Sony.
Believe me buddy there is a difference;-) Porn industry still makes a lot of money annually. it is a business that no business wants to officially be known for helping out with it, especially banks that hold their money. It is all hush hush, but with porn not featured on blue ray then that shuts out a market that can actually end the format wars.
From a business point of view they have shot themselves in the foot, but I respect a company that will do that for the sake of morality. They probably won't allow hardcore porn or the really sick and dodgy stuff that is acceptable in the USA.
IMO, Vivid sucks. Private is light-years better than that studio. Besides, there's already Japanese porn on Blu-Ray...
This is one of the biggest mistakes Sony could have made if true. One of the general consensuses in entertainment industry is that the acceptance and usage by the porn industry is one of the deciding factors in whether or not a format will be successful. It is considered to be one of if not the major reason VHS won out over Betamax and why DVD became the success it is. Porn may be the bastard stepchild of the entertainment industry but it holds a ton of power and Sony should be wise enough to know that.

I still don't see why people still are willing to pay for stuff thats free on the Internet. Its not like its piracy, well, unless you download vids taken from DVD movies or something.
