I've picked up a stock unmodded silver psp-2001. I am entirely new to it and have been researching the many ways of modding it. However my primary question right now is where do I start with it ? I would like to load it up with as many of the (NEWEST) emulators and roms as possible. I will be using a 32GB storage card already recognized within the psp. I know there are some really cool things that the PSP can do and it can prove to be a very useful tool in everyday life if it can be understood how to be used.

A few sideline questions below not as important as the above mentioned one ^

It came with a webcam as well so I hope to be able to use it in skype calls on the psp. (amazon reviews said this would work) ?

Can it be turned into an android phone ?

Can it play multiplayer games online from public wifi spots ?

( and last but not least) if you know of cool things not commonly known that the PSP can do please share it here :) )

Modding the system is a joke now. No hardware needed.

Apparently Skype can be used, but the camera for video cannot.

    No.

    Yes.

The PSP is an excellent emulation device and can also play PS1 games (PS1 games must be in a special format).

Says I've got firmware 6.35 installed already not sure what to do now.

Do I grab a custom firmware that is matched to 6.35 and install it?

Wasn't it mandatory to bring it up to firmware 6.60 ?

With PSP 2000 I would update to 6.60 first, then install Pro CFW.

Copy to memory card. Install it. Then install Permanent Patch or whatever it's called.

Yes. Last digit represents region. 1 = North America.

Installing CFW these days literally takes about 3-5 minutes. The longest part is finding the correct CFW and downloading it.

At the end of the guide and on the chatboards there seems to be alot of confusion whether or not to install the CIPL flasher. ? will I lose my data if I don't install it ?

EDIT: I ran PSPIDENT to find I've got a compatible motherboard (TA-085) and than ran the CIPL flash, all is good now thanks everyone for your help.

I have turned off sleep mode on the PSP. I think sleep mode wastes battery life much faster than simply turning the PSP off and on.
