Here we go :icon_bigg http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8439/28656387nm1.jpg And now on boot I heard 3 beep and the CD/DVD Drive light is green (there is no other light) After I have this picture on the hidden VGA port http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/4129/46705444mf3.jpg And there is nothing on the PS2 video out I connect an USB keyboard but it's not recognized
Don't use a USB keyboard - there is a socket on the back, near the hidden VGA, which is a keyboard insert (annoyingly it was called PS/2 socket, but nothing to do with PS2!) Have you ensured all the switches are set correctly (check Sony Tool guide posted in Sony Dev section)? Lastly, there was a guide for the particular PCI card in question and boot settings. Unclejun had it I think. Never seen the CPU has changed message, but it might relate to the CMOS battery having drained or you needing to check the BIOS settings. Sorry I am vague on this, but Unclejun's memory is far better than mine, plus I am sure he shall point out the fact that I tend not to read simple instructions. ;-)
:-( Oh the PS2 port is under a black rubber Now after I press F1 Updating ESCD Building DMI Pool DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER PS : on the boot screen the TOOL only fond 1 HDD (and I read on some post that normaly there is 2 HDD ??)
Go into the bios and check what boot drive is set, you can also disable the floppy while you're at it. If your hdd is dead, you'll have to find someone with the same model to make a complete dump of their hdd. 1 hdd on the PC SBC card and one on the TOOL SIF board wich can't be detected by the PC side.
Thank's UJ, so it's normal that the bootscreen, it only detect one Hard Drive ? I check the config in the bios and the first boot device is the floppy drive I will disassemble the unit tomorow to dump the hard drive :icon_bigg
Yes the bios detects only one hdd, that's perfectly normal. Change the first boot device to be the hdd, if it doesn't work, try the hdd in another pc. If the hdd doesn't work, you need a dump from a working hdd, not from your own.
I search on the board and I have exactly the same unit version as Assembler Here : http://assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18819 If my HDD is dead I will ask Assembler for a dump if he has one The bios settings are  (I will need some time to understand all the options)
You only need to disable the floppy on the Standard CMOS Features page and put the hdd-0 as first boot device on the advanced BIOS features page for now.
No point me chipping in as UJ is on the case, but what is it with these PS2 Tools? Who here has had one boot first time? Sheeesh! I tell thee, you have to be patient with these units! Let us know how you get on.
Didn't someone here already make a couple of disk images for dead TOOLs? Looks to me like it's just been in storage for a long time and conked out, I can confirm that BIOS message since I had a battery go once on an ancient motherboard...either that or it lost the CMOS settings unexpectedly. If the clock is keeping time with the unit off (and unplugged) then the battery is OK, putting all the settings back to how they were should fix it. Check for loose connections on the HDD also, it might just have got a loose data connection in postage... Stone
The person in question would need to decide whether to step forward or not and it's a question of whether he/she should be put upon by the increasing number of people requesting such images. It's not me before you ask, but I was fortunate enough to use those images and without them I'd have been utterly lost.
Ok so the CMOS battery is dead When i select HDD as primary boot device and disable floppy, the unit give me : Updating ESCD Building DMI Pool DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER without the need of F1 I start to disassemble the unit to dump the HDD
Try swapping the internal HDD over to see whether the unit boots. There are 2 HDD as standard and they appear to have more or less the same information, but not identical. I at least confirmed that the PS2 Tool managed to boot using the second HDD (I accidentally placed the wrong HDD onto IDE1). Have a look at the HDD and see whether the jumpers are set correctly. Also, can you get any information as to whether the HDD has been formatted or is it just perhaps missing a particular file, gone a bit duff? Oh, and watch your fingers and wrists on A) the metal RF tape and B) metal edges of the ATX casing. Bloody sharp!
Swapping the hard drive does not change anything All the 7 light on the motherboard are green Under the HDD the OS and Drive are red I will try to read the HDD content under XP
