I'm not sure it's that much, after all it's a high end PC in a console box.

    Wow really...?

Where can I buy a custom 3 core / 3.2GHz PowerPC for my box, i'd like to upgrade.... ;-)

Aside from the "standard" ATi GPU it seems a much more dedicated / proprietary game console than the original XBox.....besides, even the GC used ATi (well, technically), and the PS3 is going nVidia.....can't really claim it's a "PC" due to the GPU...it's just a matter of money...it's not cost effective these days to custom build GPU's for game consoles....

I can imagine if MS actually releases the PSU at that size, that some parent would sue them because of it burning their kid.

Can you image how hot that thing must get?!

It is no big deal. My step-down transformer for running Japanese stuff in england is already that size. It doesn't get very hot, even when running a Japanese PC on it. I'm sure it will be OK, though it would amuse me to see things get messy for MS.

Sorry I didn't make myself clear, I wan't talking about the system's architecture, which is far from what you can get on PC, I was talking about it's raw power.

Just to confirm, the retail power supply is the same. It's freaking huge

No, CELL will have some neat biological structure which will produce electricity for your entire household, you'll only have to work harder to buy one!

If not, one could always make a PS3 grill out of the quite possibly huge PSU... =)
