Hey AssemblerGames! Just wanted to poke your brains for a bit and ask a few things. I've come into this board a complete newbie to the Developer Console section, and was wondering: What are the features of the GDEV? I know it's the BEST thing in terms of development for devs, but before I get my hands on one (E-bay, 555.55$ plus 95$ Shipment), I've wanted to know the features and what could be useful to me. If any of you also have a lower offer to post, please do. I'm looking for one with the USB2EXI utility also. (If the request for one is against the rules, I'll edit it out ) So yeah, thanks in advance! ~CrackNTag
Hi and welcome to the forums! First of all, I can recommend you not to buy the one on ebay. It does not come with a ODEM (Optical Disc Emulation) card and therefore can only be used to run NPDP cartridges. That, and $555 is too much (the seller, Lingjr always tries to sell his stuff for wayyy too much). For the exact features of a GDEV, just browse around on the fora (use the search function). All you need to know is here. If you are interested in buying one after you know what you can do with it, just drop a post in the WTB section. If I'm not mistaken there are a couple of members here who want to part with theirs.
This has been said time and time again, and you might want to use that manual in the box. With the GDEV you can: develop applications for the nintendo gamecube platform use it for DVD emulation, either by sticking and NPDP cartridge or using the ODEM PCi board to emulate the image off your host PC. hook up the DB9 cable to a supported PC motherboard and use the RS-232 protocol for the purpose of real time debugging information and general stata. USB2EXI can be used for anything you can put your imagination to as long as it involves the EXI bus.
