Nice pics m8, thanks for sharing... ...It might just be me, but I couldn't make out the backup battery m8? ...Is it there as I couldn't see it at the usual location? ...Or do you have a pre-D5 spec machine, if so what IPL Boot ROM are you running m8? I'd be keen to know
cool looking, Anybody want to crack open a GBOX to compair? soon that stack will have a brown cube. No luck on a interface card.
The GBOX looks exactly the same, minus the ODEM daughterboard ...Are you saying that N3TKaT has 2 GDEV's but no ODEM PCI card's?
oldengineer, Yep and if I can help find him one. He might be willing to let the TDEV go to me. Got any extras laying around? Oh can GDEV units write to the NDPD cart or can only NDPD writers do that? Anybody actualy find one of this things?
There is a battery standing up on the board. Look at the smaller of the two fans and look above it. If thats what you mean by backup battery.
Thats a real shame, a GDEV without an ODEM is like a bike with no wheels ...I don't have any extra's I'm afraid, only the ones I use. The GDEV can't write to NPDP carts. ...The only thing's that can write to those are the NPDP-Writers (single cart writers) or the NPDP-GW (gang writers @ 8 carts per write). ...Assembler has a Gang Writer, but I guess he probably hasn't got the custom interface card that it needs to drive it.
I don't know a lot about this machine as I don't have an ODEM card to communicate with it Unfortunately yes, I have these two beauties wating for an ODEM card. I found one, but without the NPDP-WIF pci card, and those cards are harder to find than ODEMs, so I rejected it :smt009
Does the NPDP writers actualy need a special pci card to write to it or does it just use normal scsi like the nr burner does?
...Yep that's good, the earlier versions are a pain 'cos they don't emulate a GC properly, i.e. they loose their setting's and more importantly they don't run at full speed!!!!
Hey N3TKaT, do you wanna try something useful with your GDEV, whilst you wait for an ODEM? ...If so connect a Serial cable (Null modem) from the GDEV to your host PC COM port and set up the SDK HyperTerminal to Debug the GDEV. ...Fire up your GDEV and let us know your Boot Rom revision displayed in the terminal. ...0.93A is the 'usual' recent HW3 Boot Rom, but your's could be earlier or indeed later which would be interesting to establish.
Hmmm interesting mine is: Dolphin OS $Revision: 52 $. Kernel built : Apr 16 2002 02:09:06 Console Type : Development HW3 Memory 48 MB ...So it looks like your's are a little earlier, but luckily HW3 revisions, excellent
I don't know a lot about the Gamecube devtools as I didn't do a lot with them. I do have part of one though, the PCI card that connects to the blue external unit. Looks like a SCSI but supposedly isn't. Anyone any ideas what this card would be? Here's a (bad) picture if it helps.
