tried the demo when it came out, pretty impressive work, did see some complaints about the environment being too noisy from some of the community, but it really does look great

Love the new level textures. The video looks nice as well. Was just playing some sonic 2 last night so watching the vid gave me a bit of a "whoa" moment graphics wise. Will have to check it out. Thanks to op for bringing this up.

There was a thread about this somewhere else, but I'm not going to try looking for it either. I remember Yakumo said it was too noisy for him and he preferred the recent official Sonic release.

The black and white version for Windows removes the issues with losing sonic in the awesome scenery. I really like this game.

This does look much better than Sonic 4, mainly because the person behind this project has a great sense of atmosphere. On top of that, the people over at Sonic Retro are very anal about classical Sonic physics, so I'm sure that this Remix has been tweaked to be as accurate as possible.

Sega will never return to their former glory until they learn that they can't take shortcuts on fan service and quality.

Yeah, i think there's a little too much going on. Tone it down a bit and I think it will be a winner.

IMO this is much worse than Sonic 4.
There I said it.(As I said in the other thread that someone posted a few months back)

Graphics are over detailed, over saturated and the gameplay is hardly any better.
Not to mention the music sucks, I know that I personally myself along with many of my friends could make better remixes.
And the music in sonic 4 is better too.

    Just my opinion.

And I would if the opportunity presented itself.
If they were recruiting people to do music for this game, I would let all of the people I know who do arrangements of video game music know about it and let us all try to get the position(or even work together). And I know a lot of them would jump at the chance to music for a game , even if it's just a fan game.

Here are 2 old examples of remixes/arrangements from 2009 I did
    http://dwellingofduels.net/dodarchive/09-10-Gameboy_Games/04-BONKERS-Pokemon%20Gold-The%20Victory-DoD.mp3
http://dwellingofduels.net/dodarchi...shtim-Light the Way to the West Ocean-DoD.mp3
Would've used some more recent examples , but a lot of the stuff i've been working lately I can't release until the projects/albums are released.

One point I will concede about This though is that they did nail the classic look of sonic himself (The model and the spinning sign artwork).

Have you tried contacting them about it? Might be worth a shot...

I really like this fan remix and sure, it's not perfect but I enjoyed playing it! Aside from the music, I am quite blown away with it, mainly because it's fan-made and not just some quick hack. I like it a lot.

Well it's good that you do I guess. I just hate when people spout useless garbage like "This is so much better than sega blah blah etc etc" because it's an entirely subjective matter.

I suppose I could find the website and inquire to them about it. Even though my opinion of the game overall is that the graphics (other than sonic's model) are over detailed and too saturated and because of that it's hard to see ahead of sonic when you are playing and etc.

Edit: I have tried to register on the forum on their website to post in the topic but apparently new users don't have permission to post in the topic or something??

So, until I figure that out. I cannot.

There was another hd sonic game that came out. Anyone see it? It was basically an HD version of sonic. A port.
Nothing to oooh and aaah at.

    Still let's consider this:

    1. The people that did this have loads of talent
    2. Although it isn't like sonic 4 and locked into a next gem console, this game looks brilliant. Admit it. Busy or not it really does bring a sense of realism to the sonic universe no one has witnesses...
    3. It controls well. For a fan made game it's great.
    4. The unity game engine is spectacular. It does this as well as iPhone games. Very impressive.

Well here is a quick Midi Rip that I did pretty easily (less than 3 hours of work) just to show comparison, and I even did it in Mono sound like the song in the game is done so a similar listening environment is present
    http://www.box.net/shared/cevlzrsb6g

I did change the drums though, because the ones from the Midi I used were not so great.

But I digress, the point is. The music is better IMO. *shrug*

this sonic game is better then sonic 4 because
the people that made sonicremix actually cared about sonic
and put there heart and souls into the game
sega and the current sonic team DONT
really care about sonic they included the homing attack
in such a way where you actually have to use it
you cant just do you normal spiny jump come down on the enemy
and kill them if you just in sonic 4 you dont do the ball and you get hit
lets not forget if you do the spin dash when you launch off a ramp you
IMMEDIATELY go into the falling animation and loose momentum and get hit
by an otherwise easy to kill enemy

so prefer sonicremix so much more then this shell marketing ploy
    called sonic 4

One think I would like the Sonicremix team to do is optimise the game code. As it is it's FAR too CPU hungry. My PC can play Half life 2 pretty much maxed out but it struggles to play this Sonic Remix even on the lowest settings. Not everyone has a monster gaming PC. Mine is only a single core 2.4GHz with 1GB or ram. That's fine for me though since I'm a console gamer BUT I would like to play this new Sonic.
