i dont care that homing attack is in sonic 4 i care that its REQUIRED in order to kill an enemy
where in sonic1-3 you could do the simple jump to kill attack

Opinion is still an opinion. It doesn't make it objectively better than another thing.
If you want sonic never to change just continue to play the old games over an over because if Sega just kept making the same game over and over the last 20 years you'd all be complaining that Sonic never changes and that it's just the same. Which it would be if they kept the game play mechanics exactly the same. People already bitched enough about how sonic 4 is " just a remake of sonic 2 "

Sega tried to strike a middle ground for fans and trying to make additions and yet people complained that it was too much like the old sonic or it wasn't enough like old sonic in some way or another.
    so.
Sonic fans don't know what they really want. And thus will never be satisfied whether a truly decent game is made or not.

its not an option when you come off a rap and go strait into the fall animation and an enemy is right there and you get hit and loose your rings
where if you stayed in a ball like in 1-3 even adventure you stayed in a ball after a ramp and easily killed the enemy just after the ramp

or even jumping your not in the ball and you hit the bottom of the enemy and lose your rings or die

when its REQUIRED just to kill a fucking enemy theres a HUGE issue
and enemy so easy as the one siting at the end of a ramp sonic should kill without even thinking

witch makes sonic 4 suck major ass it shows that sonic team is just a shell and dont even care about there product and faithfulness to the source material

if they would just fix the ramp and the jump the sonic 4 would be an ok game but remix would still be vastly superior due to being made with love and attention to detail

oh and your picture is broken

Exactly. Trust me, I just recently upgraded my PC from the very first one I built years and years ago. It had a Radeon 9600 Pro, 2.3 ghz intel processor, 3 gigs of DDR1 ram. This was pretty much top of the line parts at the time, and all I really did on the PC was play Half-life 2 as Yakumo said (not to get off topic but I give props for Valve making HL2 run on such a wide range of low end and high end systems.) But I noticed when testing some of the levels I made for HL2 would crash if too large with not enough optimization. The new build runs everything maxed out with decent MSAA and all HDR effects available, needless to say, I had no idea how damn good it could look 1600x1200.

Recently from NewEgg I bought these items, some may have been cheaper than they show now or had rebates, blah blah, but the outcome was cheap for a PC build that pretty much blew me away in power.
    Radeon HD5570 1GB 128-bit DDR3
    ASUS M4A785-M Motherboard
    AMD Athlon X2 7850 Kuma 2.8GHz Dual-core
    2 Gb DDR2 Ram
    and a new power supply
    All for around $250
And let me tell you, if you are on Windows 7 for the system rating my Gaming graphics jumped from 2.2 all the way to 6.7! The processor is at 6.2 now aswell. The overall rating went from 2.2 to 5.5 only because I couldnt afford more than 2 sticks of ram at the time. It has yet to crash, can play almost anything I throw at it looking pretty good. I would say its almost on par with 360 graphics in some cases and better in others. Firefox no longer lags up everything, Youtube can play 1080p flawlessly, Fraps is actually useable now, and Emu's like Desmume actually work! I was shocked!

Now how this all ties into being on topic... It ran this Sonic fan project beautifully on my 1600x1200 44" HDTV  I disagree about "too much going on." I like it a lot to be honest. Very nice, and I love that whale! Fuck Yeah! I am just glad Sega doesn't seem to push cease & desist orders. Why though? Not that I would want them to! :):cur_sonic:
Also, I only had a chance to play the trial version of Sonic 4 to actually be able to do any comparing (like everyone seems they need to do), and to be honest I don't really remember much about it, so that's a bad sign. Maybe it just left a bland taste in my mouth.

I dunno on the technical side this is very impressive shows a massive degree of talent...
But is overdesigned, seems to be trying far too hard, cramming too much in and thinking about style more than function.
Makes it far too visually cluttered, its things that that which make it scream fan game.

While the modelling and texturing is of very good level and i love how they did sonic himself, the grubby metal and such high contrast in its pallet makes me just think Gears Of Hedgehog or something lol

Sonic 4 while no way near as memorable as 1/2/3/K/CD I feel it doesn't warrant the rampant "fan" hatred which surrounds it, people who can't accept anything that isn't sonic of the old. While the fact you can cancel momentum in sonic 4 did throw me off initially unless you're looking for something to upset you you can get used to this pretty quickly.

My main problem with sonic 4 is that these very fans who its impossible to please who'll take any fan-made nonsense (or deviant-art maguffins) above a new sonic game because its fashionable irrespective of quality had too much influence on Sonic 4's creation. I'd have vastly prefered a series of brand new acts without any need to have a homage to the previous sonic games as sonic 4's levels did...

    Haha rant over...

a game like this probably uses the video card more then the GPU
if your video card is built into the motherboard then the CPU is the GPU

so a dedicated video card will likely do you wonders AMD and NVIDIA video cards are around $40 for a direct x 10 video card

and with that you should see a HUGE improvement with sonic remix performance not to mention smooth youtube 1080p

It runs quite well on my samsung notebook:

    Core i5 2.23ghz
    4 gig ram
Dedicated nvidia 330m 512 meg ram

I can run it at 720p around 30fps full screened.

Dedicated video cards now vs 5 years ago are so different...

Not to go too far off topic but windows system scores are only as weak as the weakest component. You can have the newest quad core i7 and a screaming video card and amazing ram but a 5800rpm hard drive makes the score a 5.5

    It isn't weighted.

    -getting back on track
But I these guys used the unity game engine, can it be optimized? Is that possible?

Agreed the mushroom hill video they did was spectacular, and you can tell someone with an eye for colour and some artistic talent worked on it unlike the other one.

I think the original post is great, it just needs contract and brightness adjustments.

Ha, I am sure many have seen it! While it does looks amazingly sexy, I am still more impressed with the other remake, mainly because it looks different than just an HD Sonic.

A pretty boring remake. Just the same game in hd.
To me there isn't much in the way of creativity. The character models are the same and it looks again like an up-rezed version... Which technically it is.

I hate the notion that "Sonic fan's don't know what they want". Look at New Supra Mario Bros. on the DS. The changes from the Mario of 15 years ago, applied to Sonic would be welcomed thanks.

I double agree to you and the person you quoted.

Everything after Sonic Adventure 1 has been a little blue hedgehog speeding down a never ending hill.

Well... ok maybe not, for the exception of one of the GBA titles I played... Can't quite remember the name but it returned it to its better roots.

See, now this I would actually love to get in on , help out and even play when it's done. Because it's not disguising itself as something else. I like remakes, not games that have a case of missing identity.
