I found myself in possession of a SCPH 5552, Integrated circuit Mounted MM3 dates okay, and only the color pal instead NTSC black and white. Not Wanting to use an RGB cable, There Is A Color Correction mod. for the model and, in general?

the link in the link, I'm not sure;It is seen that in another site is a topspin foot of some chips.
    No one knows some answers?

ok lead to mass the point corresponding to the pin appears lifted .... ok thanks
    X fingers

On a 5552, the way to get colour without RGB is either:
    a) fit dual oscillators, so the console has both the original and NTSC (this will output proper PAL 4.43 at 50hz and NTSC 3.57 at 60hz)
    b) fit a 4.43MHz oscillator and force the CXA chip to output PAL colour encoding all the time, this then gives PAL@50hz also PAL at a slightly off 60Hz

This is the way using a just a crystal, http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/playstation-1-psone-colour-correction-modification.37319/

This is the way with a 4 pin crystal oscillator http://www.psxdev.net/forum/download/file.php?mode=view&id=445&sid=3903d2bf2a7ab2faaf80495b020c3c4b.

Ok I understand what to do, I have to say it is very mangy, and expensive mod. color for this model, greazie thousand really felt, I sparrow to another, we are in a period of other things you do not believe me complicate life further.
I'll keep this post reference for future changes.
    My heartfelt thanks.

However I just do not have a MM3 and having to make even this intervention ... if anything should specify the file installation / assembly, which on some models is an additional specific mod. for color ... as in the case of the amendment with PsOne with Onechip. I hope it's just a case infinitesimal, the 5552, 'cause on other models requires no cable RGB color mod it.
But no need to explain it to those in this forum.

The difference is in the video chip. Consoles after the 5552 produce PAL60 instead of NTSC for 60Hz games, whereas the 5552 and consoles before it (5502, 1002) produce true NTSC.

Therefore you'll get colour if you play 60Hz titles on a machine later than this 5552. A modchip won't affect colour at all.

is a question of video chip, however mangy finding the method to fix it, I "traded" with another 5502, at least the problem is limited to a crystal only theoretically, but on this I think I install mayumi, maybe I get slightly different results; given the different way of working of the mod chip.
Being rare in my part, not yet hitting duties in the console, for some fans can 'be "a panacea" but as I see it, I do not find much utility slam for a ps1.

They output NTSC but with a mangled off frequency colourburst, that is why you don't get colour.
The later consoles don't output PAL either do they? That is why there are the wire link mods on the later models to force PAL colour encoding. They just output a NTSC colourburst on the correct frequency.

ok then warrant a change with pic, can not force an output NTSC color in the case of older consoles.
Are quà who beat his fingers on the table, because he has to get a SCPH 5502 explode ..

If you have a later PAL console (SCPH-7002 or later) then they always output a signal with a 4.43MHz PAL colorburst, no matter what the video mode is. The result of this is that without a mod they will produce PAL in PAL mode and NTSC 4.43 in NTSC mode. If you do that color mod, then they produce PAL in PAL mode and PAL60 in NTSC mode.

The same thing applies to the NTSC consoles, too - but the resulting modes are not generally useful because very few TVs can display signals that have a 50Hz frame rate but a 3.58MHz NTSC subcarrier.

There is no simple mod for the older consoles (up to PU-18) because the subcarrier is generated by the GPU from the master reference oscillator - so getting the right subcarrier means you either have to directly inject 4.43 MHz into the video encoder or (preferably) by adding a new reference oscillator.

For NTSC, the correct reference oscillator is 53.693MHz - this is divided down by 15 in the GPU to get the color subcarrier. The PAL units use a 53.2MHz reference clock - this is normally divided down by 12 to get the 4.43MHz PAL subcarrier, but when you switch to NTSC it gets divided by 15 and gives 3.546MHz - which is too far away from the correct NTSC reference for the TV to lock to it.

The console, as I thought I should give color with PAL games and black and white with NTSC games. The oscillator for the mod. necessary, it is not readily available, no one knows for an alternative to the case QXO-1100, maybe even smd?
